Default Help With BOV

Hey Everyone. The last week or so I've noticed that my BOV is not nearly as loud as it use to be. I can still hear it blowing off but its much more faint. So I was digging around under the hood today checking everything out and I had question.

Should the gold piston be closed at idle and when giving it gas? I have attached a pic that shows how mine sits at all times. I watched the piston as my wife gave the car gas and it moved down when she let off but it never become more closed than it is in this pic.

Is that staying open more than it should at all time creating a boost leak?

Thanks for the help.

Mine is working great, but when I checked mine out it looked liked it might be opened a little. I took a long / thin piece of cardboard and checked to see if it was opened a little, but it was closed. Yours should be closed.

any ideas on what would cause it to all of a sudden get much quieter? I'm a bit stumped on this one.

What spring are you using? I have heard of one other person having a problem with the valve sticking/leaking. You would have better luck sending Boomba a PM.

I have been running the 13lb spring since day one. I guess I'll send them a PM and see what they have to say. Thanks for your help!

I had some problems with the piston sticking on mine, esp when the weather got colder.

I opened mine up and sprayed the piston lightly with some WD40, then wiped it off so there was only a thin film left on the outside edges of the piston.

Never had a problem with it since.

Thanks for the help man. Thats exactly what the problem was. The piston was sticking and not closing all the way up. I took it off this afternoon, took it apart and then put a thin film of wd-40 on the piston, reassembled, made a new gasket and put it back on. It works perfectly now.

I hope I don't have to do this very often because that third bolt is a dirty whore and although I've figured out a good way to get at it, it still sucks to deal with!

welp, the problem is happening again. I think its about time to get rid of this thing off my car as its not worth all the hassle to keep taking it on and off.

Apparently, Boomba could care less about its customers as I sent them an email early last week with no response. Wednesday morning I'll be going back to the stock surge valve.
