Default Zex Purge Question

Just intstalled my zex purge and machine gun add on yesturday to my kit. Does the bottle have to be open to purge the lines? I thought that the point of the kit was to clear all the lines of nitrous but wouldn't it just keep coming out with the bottle open?

I got a video of the machine gun purge, just gotta figure out how to get my videos uploaded on a computer now with this camera.

I think you purge to clear the lines of air and too make sure theres nitrous right up to the solenoid(s) so that the system is ready to go just before making a run.......so yes the bottle should be opened.

Purge is two fold. One is making sure you clear the lines of debris and dead air so you get a pure shot of nitrous without any hesitation. Two, is to clear the lines after your done racing so the constant pressure of nitrous is not on the solenoid.

I'm pretty sure the place I get my nitrous filled isn't filling up my bottle all the way. I can purge a few times and spray while I'm racing and it runs out fast as hell. I bet its only holding 7-8 pounds of nitrous. How much does a 10 pound bottle usually hold?

Theres some low cost digital scales that can be found. You can weigh the bottle in between runs to get an idea of how much is being used for each run. You can also weight the bottle before and after refilling. The bottle is near empty and needs to be refilled when theres about 20% or less nitrous remaining.

Heres a good nitrous FAQ from nitrous direct
Nitrous Direct* >>*Nitrous Oxide NOS info faq

Seriously tho. make sure your bottle is not hot when you get it filled. That makes a big difference. If you bottle is warm there will already be pressure in the bottle and you will a crappy fill. Some places will put the bottle in the frig for ya to coll it.

Yea, I'm gonna put the bottle in the freezer next time before I get it filled. My bottle was pretty hot last time I took it up there, that should help.
