I have stage 3 with all bolt ons. Installing a p&p head with crane 16's. Rc 650 injectors with a walbro 255 fuel pump. I will also have a d-tec fuel management and dual stage boost control. Tired of always running 5.00 a gallon race fuel. What to run 93 octane gas and not use hom anymore, but i still want more power. I the car makes @ 400 hp off of hom what shot of no2 can i run and be fairly safe? I have done nothing to the bottom end.
You probly need to run 110 octane doing that..soo really either way your gonna need the exspensive stuff..but hey its better than c-16..its 10.25 here in sc..

I assume that if you are putting down 400hp to the wheels that you already have a new fuel pump. I also assume you have or are going to get a new clutch, motor mounts, tranny mounts, and slicks. That being said you can run a 75 shot on a wet kit, higher with a direct port kit. With the 75 shot you will probably be over 500 hp at the wheels if you are already at 400. With this much power you are going to eventually break your axles. In the 500hp range and above you are going to put alot more wear on the internals, but you dont need to change them if you go into it knowing your car probably wont make 150,000 miles. The motor seems to handle 450hp with very few problems. Since the nitrous wont be running all the time your motor should last quite along time. However the rest of the car, clutch, axles, mounts, ect, ect will give before your engine, but its all part of racing. The old saying "how fast do you want to go, how much are you willing to spend," always applys. With my old Duster which was well into the 10's and could have possibly run a 9 with better tuning I broke something everytime I went to the track.
Oh and you could run 93 octane but you will need to run it very rich and watch it carefully. If you have a way of monitoring knock I would use it. As long as you keep the shot small you should be ok. With a 35 shot I know it would be ok with 93 octane and it may give you 40 to 45 hp to the wheels which is close to what you get from HOM. This is assuming you are letting the stage 3 pcm control boost. If you are controlling your boost you will need to back the boost down to run 93 octane. You could even run a 75 shot if you back the boost far enough. You just need to go out and try it and see wheather a 35 shot and the boost you are running is enough. If it isnt try backing the boost down and running a bigger shot. You will be riding on the edge of safety with high boost, 93 octane and nitrous. You would still be better off with high octane fuel. But as long as you keep the boost within reason and the nitrous on the smaller size, and keep you a/f ratios fine it is possible. When you want you can then run race gas, up the boost, and then get your best time yet.

Thank for the reply. I have a spec stage 3 clutch, dogbone motor mounts, 550hp axels, slicks on 15in rottas. My post should have read "if the car makes 400 hp off hom...."
right now the car is 372 in hom. After installing the items in the first post i hope to be close to the 400 hp mark off HOM. I will be running the d-tec to control fuel. All that said will it be "fairly safe" to run a 35 shot in HOM, or not use HOM and run a larger shot?
It may not be safe running any shot of nitrous in HOM.
That being said with your mods it "should be safe" running a 75 shot not running in HOM. This is assuming you have the correct a/f ratios. The 75 shot in regular mode will put you close to or over the 500hp range. We will assume you are at 315 without HOM. The 75 shot will give you 125 to 150 hp if you dont already have a larger fmic. So 315 with 125 would be 440hp with 150 it would be 465. It is possible that with tuning you will be close to that 500hp which would be over 500hp at the crank.
