Blow down is a safety item. If theres an over pressure condition that occurs for what ever reason it insures that the nitrous gets vented outside of the car and not inside.

Its a rule/regulation requirement for using nitrous at the track but some claim they have not had a problem during inspection without it. Kind of like a helmet or a fire jacket is required.

IMO get one and install it as the cost and time to install is not prohibitive to using it.

If you race at any NHRA sanctioned track you will need the flow down tube. Or you could bolt a sheet of aluminum behind the rear seat. Basically, If the bottle is not seperate from the cab (in our cars the seat is the only seperation) then you need the blow down.

I have raced at over 20 different tracks and about half reqire a blow down tube. Any NHRA or IHRA track that actually does a thourough inspection will not let you run without one. You can fabricate one for yourself for about $3 or purchase one for very little dough so I would go ahead and get one. If in doubt and you dont want to spend the money just take your car to the track and find out.
