Is dodge couping anything else up in the near future? I know they usually upgrade and change things for the next year, but was wondering if anyone had any ideas for 07? My aunt always lets me pick the cars she gets and has been happy with what I have chosen for her and her husband. Well anyhow she is wanting muscle and likes to show off. She said she wants something that has looks, power, and can handle. She also would take it down the track a few times to see what it can do. Well I threw some cars out there such as the viper SRT-10, porche GT3, new z06 coming out, and the new cobra coming out. I personally have always liked the way the viper looked so suggested it to be the main one. She will be looking at them all so I am here to ask what exactly would you guys prefer? I mean she is going to test drive of coarse before she buys, but havent had alot of time to read up on all of them yet. Price isnt too much of a concern to her. Dont get me wrong she isnt filthy rich, but makes enough. I mentioned the hennessey viper price range and she was going to go for that...if they even make those. Although she doesnt need something that fast, but it was something I threw out to her. She lives in florida and only weighs in at 95lbs so whatever she gets will rocket her in the seat no doubt. Well any ideas?
She might not like all the attention she'll get in a Viper. It gets out of hand sometimes. Also remember that anyone shorter than 5'-8" or 5'-7" would have a really hard time driving a viper due to visibility. Under 5'-6" would probably be impossible.
i myself would prefer the Viper, however this car isnt for everyone. other cars make this much power, even more, but the main thing you hear about the viper is how its "uncontrolable" in the hands of someone that doesnt know what they are doing. Meaning 500 hp 525lbft and NO TRACTION control. New buyers are lucky they have big brakes and ABS, because prior to 2002 there was no ABS.
I think you're aunt would like a Z06, or if she wanted a nice car with all the things she said she wanted, and still wanted an easy car to drive id say go with a brand ndew 911 Cabrio....very nice car
I also forgot to mention that a Viper is not a very good daily driver. Gas mileage sucks and it's really hard getting into and out of. Z06 would be a much better daily driver.
i vote z06, why? im biased, but the z06 gets 26mpg on the highway and 16 in the city, not to mention it can go 0-60 in 1st gear alone...
what rpm would u be at though? im sure thatll kinda kill ur mileage if u waited for first gear to climb to 60 before u shifted. the viper is as fast or faster anyway right even if it cant get to 60 in 1st?
what gear do they measure MPG in the first place, this is a ricer excuse. Oh you can go 60 in first but how much gas mileage are you getting? hahah that 26 is measured in 6th gear on the highway. Which is what most people will spend the most amount of time in when cruising on the highway....

ps there is supposed to be a new viper in 08 if shes gonna wait a while to make her decision

Stock rear in an SRT-10 will allow you to make 0-60 runs without having to shift to 2nd although that fact alone is hardly reason to buy a particular car.
An SRT-10 is plenty fast enough unless you're hung up on bragging rights.
Still, it's a poor choice for the reasons I listed above. None of those reasons were issues with me.
Let's see, 40,000 Vettes a year, maybe 2000 Vipers ( hand built ) a year, so you can be one of the many , or, the few, the proud, the.............you get the drift.
Just placed two Z06 owners into new Snakes, and unlike 29 Outlaw they both prefer the Viper for their daily drives - so the fair assessment is it is all a matter of personal opinion.
very good replies. I understand about the power maybe too much for her. Although she has a e55 amg that she loves, but is handing over to her daughter. Right now she is trying to get her hubby a SLR, but is having some issue with getting her hands on one...not too sure about that whole deal. She is a little over 5 foot so isnt very tall so will just see how comfortable she is in the viper when she drives it. She is in spain right now doing some volunteer work with children and so forth so wont be back for another week or so. Will let her know whats going on. Thanks!
wow look at all the fan bois come out. i didnt imply that you can go all the way to the top of 1st gear and still see 26mpg, not to mention i stated 26 MPG ON THE HIGHWAY might want to sharpen up those reading skills there. if its going to be a basic daily driver, you consider creature comforts, gas milage, cuising ability. personally, id say a base c6 vert would suit this person better, i mean its still an awesome machine, will run mid 12's all day and you get to drop the top whne its nice out and still see great gas milage. we are not talking about a full out performance car thats going to be modded and raced, its a daily driver, so i dont know why people are saying stating mpg is a "ricer excuse"
also on a little sidenote, i just stated how quick the Z06 is with the long gears (allowing it to get to 60 via 1st gear )

also, a guy just sent in his time slip to corvetteforums.com, and he ran a 11.67 @125 on run flats with a 1.8 60' i dont think ive seen a viper do that

I just hope the guys buying it realize that the dry sump system will disqualify it from running as a street car in any sanctioned events.

but this isnt the topic at hand, the buyer wants a nice daily driver, maybe a once in a blue moon racer, id say that fits the bill of the c6 vert. its cheap, reliable and brand new, and most importantly in this situation comfortable, safe and gas friendly, not everything is about racing or going the fastest. for example, im getting an asa cam. low lift, high duration...why am i getting it? simplicity, you can use LS6 springs and the ramp rates of the cam wont have me changing springs every 10k miles, its not always about how fast you can go or the max power you can make, but sometimes simplicity and ease/comfort
