Default Viper Tax Alert

Everyone’s familiar with the term “Viper Tax”. It’s a cute term we use to complain about how much we pay for Viper stuff. The actual truth is that “Viper Tax” is basically “price gouging” and I have no problem exposing it when given the chance.

Pictured below is a “Smooth Tube” for an SRT-10. It replaces the stock accordion tube from the intake. Most Viper places charge around $90 for one of these. I needed a new one and got this one from www.HoseTechniques.com for $14.50.

Some will try and say it’s of low quality but it’s not. It’s the same 5-ply silicone hose that Viper places sell. Look closely and you can even see the plies in the photo.

its not price gouging unless there is a group different companys selling them....its worth what ever someone will pay for it...look at it like this.....Would you pay $10 for a bottle of water????? No.....Would you pay $10 for a bottle of water if you were stranded in a desert?...yup......if some yuppie pays 90 bucks for it...so be it....

I wouldn't pay $10 for that bottle of water if I knew that someone on the other side of the dune was selling them for $1.

What's key is to point out that folks don't have to pay $90 for an item that they can have for $14.50.

Yep - they came thru for me. I called them on Wednesday and told them I needed that tube by Friday (going to the track on Sunday). Needless to say, I got it (despite having to ship it from California to Maryland).

If that's true, then maybe owning a viper isn't the best use of your current finances.

We all own Neons for a reason.
