For the strip get a set of 16" American Racing wheels and a set of Hoosier Quicktime pros. That what I use at the track instead of my stock 20". Best 60' times I could get were 1.9 w/o and now I get 1.6 60' times. Personally I think the Hankook tires are MUCH better than the Kuhmos as far as traction and handling. (and the tread is much cooler looking) Hope this helps.

Aren't Viper's stockers 19"??? I thought the lowest wheel you were able to fit on a Viper was 17" and it would barely fit.

Yep - I'd be dying to know if someone makes a 16" rim that fits on a Viper. I'd be there.
BFG makes a drag radial in 18" which is good until you consider you'll pay a minimum of $550 per rim.
A Gen I/II can fit a 17" wheel on the rear. Nothing smaller.
The Gen III can fit a 19", or an 18" with the e-brake relocated. Nothing smaller without installing a smaller brake rotor and caliper system (costly and reduced braking performance).
Unless he wants to replace the brakes, rotors and all components the smallest possible is 18". Stick with 18" (though 18" requires relocating the parking brake caliper.
