Default clutch slip and weird marks on flywheel

Hey to everyone,

I'm a new 1st timer here and I need your advice. Got my '08 and love it...but...

I was in stop and go traffic for a while like 40 minutes in Miami, found a chance to punch it to get away from the herd and my clutch slipped BADLY (foot off the pedal). It went to redline so I got off the throttle and after a cool down, it seemed to engage again but not like before.

ANyway, the dealer tore it apart and said the clutch was toast and the flywheel had weird burn marks on it in at like 12 and 6 o clock and had NEVER seen this before! He said there is a new type of clutch in the 08 and it is completely different than the previous Vipers

Has anyone experienced this with their 08? I just got my car and hate to think I messed it up (I *know* how to drive a manual btw :-))

Thanks!

Default Viper clutch problem

New Snake,

It looks like one of three things happen, either it was NOT properly installed/adjusted from factory set at the correct clearnce (between the disc
and flywheel) A defective pressure plate assy or some binding when you release the clutch and it's partially engaged simulating you resting your foot on the clutch and causing over heating the whole assy. The dealer should replace everything including the flywheel, that should take care of it.. and remember to always use your foot rest. even the lightest pressure WILL cut clutch life to some degree!! Hope the info. help!!

KennyHemi,

P.S a warped flywheel can also be the culprit.

I try to keep my foot off the clutch whenever possible. By the way, congrats on your new purchase! What color did you get?
