Default 2008 Dodge Viper SRT10 ACR

This car doesn't really seem like a considerable advancement over the regular model though - 2008 Dodge Viper SRT10 ACR

Dodge says the ACR will cost "under $100,000" -- which could very well end up translating to $99,995 - when it arrives in the second quarter of 2008.

All told, the wheels, tires, rotors, and carbon fiber components conspire to reduce weight by 40 pounds over the base Viper, which tips the scales at 3450 pounds. Another 40 pounds can be removed by opting for the "Hard Core" package, which deletes the audio system (replacing the door speakers with carbon fiber panels), underhood silencer pad, trunk carpet, and tire inflator.

It's not a pig...there's a V10 crammed in there...plus there's plenty of potential power to be made with the new 8.4L. 1000hp N/A maybe???..we'll see

the fact that american auto makers cannot make a 8.4L engine efficently burn fuel without the addition of a power adder?

The fact that it cannot produce 100 hp per liter of displacement?

The fact it took the addition of another auto manufactor to help dodge get 100 more hp out of the already huge engine?

just something to spark the convo.

Chevy seems to do ok with a v8.....
Inside every Z06 is an LS7 aluminum-block 7.0 Liter V8 that produces a Society of Automotive Engineers-certified 505 hp and 470 lb.-ft. of torque. Hand-built at the GM Performance Build Center in Wixom, Mich., the LS7 engine contains a litany of racing-derived components, such as an eight-quart dry-sump lubrication system, titanium valves and connecting rods, forged-steel crankshaft with six-bolt main bearings, high-profile cam, and Computer Numerical Controlled (CNC) machined heads for better air/fuel flow. Even with its impressive performance, the engine does not incur a federal government gas-guzzler penalty. 16/26 epa est fuel economy......

i agree...why cant the 8.4l be as efficent as that?

...well wait i know a friends 97 viper will get like 26-28 on the highway in 6th gear as long as you dont romp on it.

The whole point im trying to make is american engines have been far behind in technology, just untill recently have they steped up and actually made some good products.

Thumbs down

MyRide.com had an interesting take on it

http://community.myride.com/kickapps...LOG&as=3898&b=

Personally I wouldn't break out my checkbook for it.

D&#n! I'd almost think about trading up for it if they had a "roadster" version. I love being able to take the top down when the weather is nice.
