A standardized test is kinda hard to fake...
The bearing revolutions test is where amsoil owns the competition.
Well, guess I'll stick with Mobil1 and save a lot of money
We highly recommend using the oil brands Valvoline or Mobil and using the oil weight recommended by the auto manufacturer, or engine builder. Light weight racing oil (Royal Purple, Redline, Amsoil, etc.) is NEVER recommended for vehicles being driven on the street. Just because the oil is designed for racing, does not mean that it is suitable for use on public roadways and in your engine. Race oils sacrifice longevity for more horsepower. Race engines are never meant to last 100k miles, and are rebuilt regularly (depending on the type of racing). We have seen numerous oil related turbo failures over the years by customers that use 0W and 5W "racing" oil. It's very simple, if your vehicle is not a dedicated race car, do not use dedicated race oils. And if your car was designed to be run with 15W oil, do not use 0W, 5W, or 10W oil.

it was maybe 3 1/2 months old about 7,000 miles but i was running royal purple and john at agp said that rp was my number one problem but when i bought the kit they never forewarned me not to run that. they say it breaks down to quickly. and to run something like mobil one or some other type of good synthetic but not amzoil redline or royal purple because they are meant for racing and the oil breaks down too quicly, its only meant for a couple passes down the track and then be changed. I shipped it out today so they can take a look at it and see if they are going to warranty it or not, i sure hope they are.
WOW that sucks ...sry to hear mine is going on 13 or so months ...with me beating the hell outta it lol

I would still stick with a normal off-the-shelf synthetic designed for street use like Mobil1, Pennzoil, Valvoline, Castrol, and Quaker State, and stick with 5w50. That's what we run out here in the Desert without any problems in 115+ degree heat.
Care to explain why?
Not trying to piss ppl off, just curious.
If an oil was tested under the "bearing blemish test" and performed better than another, why not use it?
It's your call, it's your car. Feel free to use whatever oil you want. I can tell you from experience that using a real oil brand, and sticking to whatever the manufacturer recommends, is going to be the right choice.
well well then. seems as im going to return my royal purple and get some mobil one 10w 30. i think im gunna use royal purple syncromax in the trans though.

Royal purple also makes a 5w30 and a 10w30 synthetic so does amsoil, lucas, redline you name it just don't use the race weights....save some money and use off the self synthetics.DCR recommends conventional 20w50 with their builds.
well the royal purple i was using was a 5w-30 but they said it doesnt matter so when i get my turbo back from agp (shipped it out yesterday) weather i have to pay for a rebuild or they warranty it im draining my oil and putting an off the shelf synthetic in.

First time at the track. I was a total drag racing virgin
CNY - ESTA track.
According to the folks there one of the worst in the country.
Build on swamp, so the blacktop is always wet and sweating.
Not an excuse, just what I was told there.
Car is running so so, not really tuned yet, 21ish psi of boost on a 9 psi spring. Not a very bright idea
Allseasons on stock rims, mopar springs.
Car is mostly stock if you will
Out of 10 runs the best numbers were:
Trap: 110.81 mph
ET: 13.6408
60': 2.3027
What do you guys think?
From what I've seen, my trap was higher than any other 13s car's trap.
The last run I raced a turbo v8 firebird and he trapped 111 @ 11.something...
Guess the power is OK, traction and driver... not so much
I would still stick with a normal off-the-shelf synthetic designed for street use like Mobil1, Pennzoil, Valvoline, Castrol, and Quaker State, and stick with 5w50. That's what we run out here in the Desert without any problems in 115+ degree heat.
QFT
i dont know how many guys i have seen blow up a motor with "race" oil, if its too thick it will make your pump fail, race motors use looser tolerences and HD pumps
i wonder how many srt pump failures could be atributed to using the wrong oil (99%)
