if you are going that far why not take the crank in and at least have it checked...the rods as well.....your an inch away from doing it mostly right

This. Because i assure you if the bearing is bad then It has affected the crank in that spot in some way. The crank should be checked, cleaned up, and most likely turned.

This. Because i assure you if the bearing is bad then It has affected the crank in that spot in some way. The crank should be checked, cleaned up, and most likely turned.
Not to mention the rod in question is DONE...

Im dealing with a spun and shattered rod bearing myself. It started off sounding like yours then got worse to where it knocked the whole time rev or idle. Motor seized when breaking it in on fresh motor. Replaced the rod bearings and then 8k later this happened. In the end im doing new crank etc. Total rebuild. Oh yeah... I didn't c anything when draining the oil but once the pan was dropped it was bad news. Had rods corrected also.
I question the cause on this. Hopefully my dcr oil pump is good.

just buy a new crank kit & a rod assy. & do it once correctly..........learn from our mistakes.
