Default Oil light keeps coming on/blinking.

well my oil light has been coming on/blinking 3 times. i checked the oil and changed it. only had 2500 miles on it. after the oil change/reset PCM it went away. the next day i had to go up to L.A. and it was fine for the first 140 miles. i did not get on it the whole time. max speed of maybe 85mph. so i came to a stop and the light came back on. i pulled over and checked everything out. no leaks, oil level is fine, no weird smeels at all, no codes. so i let the car cool off and and reset the PCM again. got back on the road and all was fine. not the whole time i had no power loss at all. the car was the same as it was before the oil light started to come on.
so now i got another 80+ miles on the car with no oil light til i came to another stop. i have no idea whats going on with it. still no codes, no oil leaks, oil level is fine. the car is parked now. im thinking it the oil sending unit or the oil pump. i also notice on the drive back home the engine RPMs were starting to act different. i have a SAFC ll with it ZEROed out now. reason mods are: got my HOM working now. S3r 2004 with 42k on the car. stock motor. with bolt-ons.
any ideas guys? Thanks for the HELP.

Have you checked the harness that connects to the oil sending unit, it might just be loose and not on there all the way and when it moves around it connects all the way or vise versa. If the harness is connected all the way then, I would replace the oil sending unit first to see if that fixes the problem. If the problem comes back again then I would say that your oil pump might need to be replaced.

Sounds like you oil pump is cashing out and when the light is blinking there is loss of oil pressure. You should not be driving your car if it is on and blinking I would immediately pull over and stop. To me it is a serious problem, especially if your engine is acting different. Hopefully you didnt spin a bearing.

thats what im thinking also. have not had a chance to check it yet. Thanks for the info guys.

mole there have been allot of SRT's with failing oil pressure sending units lately. That would be the first thing I'd check. Of course John has that oil pump with your name on it just sitting there waiting on your paypal.

mine came on after i had the oil press. gauge installed the guys messed it up, so i bought a new sensor and harness so hopefully that will fix the problem

i have a new PTP cryo treated oil pump on order now. looking at the auto meter oil sending unit with the oil pressure gauage.

well i got the car back today. the harness and the sending unit was replaced. the harness had a lot of oil in it. the sending unit did not want to come off. but now both of them have been replaced and the car is back to normal. while the car was on the lift i swaped out my old Mopar Stage 3 coilovers for the PTP/BC coilovers. car feels great.

Thats great to hear about you got that Issue fixed and all. I had a simular ussue where everything was great and no oil light or anything. So I decided to do a oil change. I drained the oil and replaced the filter with a FRAM oil filter, then I used Royal Purple. After that was all done with I drove it and would'nt you know my Oil Light comes on. Dont know why all i did is change oil and filter. My car was still under warentee to they replaced the sensor on the side of the block and it never came back and ive never used a fram filter or Royal Purple ever again, even tho I have a good feeling that they had nothing to do with it. Just bad timming
