![]() To the op jus get the hks bov it aint gonna hurt a bov is a bov..besides if u plan On wrenching on the car yourself it will help u get the feel of where things are. He can get it if hes wants, it will be a total waste of money. The surge valve is the best for the stock turbo. And no a bov is not a bov. A bov that is on the coldside pipe would technically be worse then a bov that right on the compressor cover. The only reason to run a bov on the coldside pipe would be if you couldnt use the stock surge valve. Stubborn old farts that know WTF we're doing.
![]() And tuner defiantly knows what he is talking about. ![]() ![]() Stay stock surge valve ....I have a hks and its obnoxious as Hell ....why do I have it because I need it
This^

![]() And tuner defiantly knows what he is talking about. ![]() lol someones in the mood to argue not saying tuner dont know anything, hes very knowledgable in the srt game..just saying i dont see whats wrong with throwing a aftermarket bov on with a stock turbo setup. i meen have u guys seen stock 1.8 vw turbos and 90's mazda rx-7 turbos those are something to consider keeping a surge valve on them (if they had one). but everyone has there preferences |

Yes, when you boil it down its his car. but he asked and the guys on here who know better told him the best route. And we are trying to save him 4 or 500 bucks. I dont know about you but if I can save that much for something more worthy of the expense... and gain from another persons experience, I am going to be first in line... unless your freakin loaded with cash... I am not.

And just to add another note, just in case anyone tells you the stock surge valve cant take high boost, I'm here to tell you that's bull. Got so tired of it back in the day, I actually took a spare and made up a test plate that simulates the function of the stocker, which supplies the same pressure to both sides, leaving the spring as the decider. And I tested to I think 25psi. In any case, I took it north of 20, since I was running my stocker on my Stage 3 at that time.

I have tested my stock surge valve to over 30PSI and never had a leak.
They are designed to always hold more pressure then what your boost pressure is.
