Default Mileage

I know it says 22/30 for the mileage on this car but what kind of mileage are you guys getting with the way you guys drive. Since i got the car it was full tank and i drove 65 miles, gunned it alot just to show friends its power and its almost a half a tank now (5/8 full). If you guys can let me know how many miles you drive till your tank is about empty it would be cool. ALong with how often you use the turbo.

Use the turbo, get bad milage. Use the power, get bad milage. This is a law of physics. The number they quote are for when you don't use the turbo AT ALL. If I don't use the turbo, I accelerate gently, letting things like hyundai accents and honda civic pull ahead on me, I get the quoted milage - sometimes a hair better - in the city. I have yet to drive civilized enough on the highway to get 30 mpg, but I have gotten 27 driving at 80 mph on flat terrain in warm weather.

Same here as to what Atlas said. If I dont get into the turbo in town it does about what the sheet says. I make a 1500 mile round trip once a month and have always gotten between 27 and 31 miles to the gallon at 80 - 85 MPH. Same as atlas though I am to prone to playing with the car on the highway and using every on ramp as my own personal drag strip to get the kind of mileage it says you should.

Take how many miles you drove on the tank...divide it by how many gallon gas tank...(12.5) and it will give you a number.

Set the tripodometer to 0 when you fill up. Fill the tank completely. Note the mileage when you fill up the next time. Divide the miles you drove by the amount of gas you had to put back in the tank - make sure to fill it the same way (ie. if you filled the neck on the first fillup, make sure to fill the neck on the second fillup). You'll probably be accurate to within 1-3 MPG.

i ahve driven 80+ MPH on a 350 mile trip, all interstate, and averaged 31 mpg. My normal day to day driving is a mix of city and interstate, so its hard to say, and i use the power a lot, but i would guess 25-27 mpg, seems pretty reasonable. I don't drive until the gas light comes on, ( its better for the fuel pump to not run it below and 1/4-1/8 of a tank) so how many miles i get between fill ups is not really going to be accurate.

Wow, I guess fuel mileage issues shouldn't have factored in when I bought an RT instead of the SRT. I've never done better than 29.5 with mine, although I do drive 75mph.

This is weird, i dont know if im just not use to the car or if its an actual problem but it feels like my mpg is alot lower than what you guys r saying. I filled up my tank and i drove about 90 miles and im almost at the half tank mark. During this run i drove about 40 miles highway at about 70-75 mph and the rest would be inner streets. I used full boost probably about 3-5 times. It just seems like the gas meter goes down really fast. Should i worry???

Also, why is it that you get better mileage at 80-85 and not like 65-70...u are at lower RPM's

i think a lot of what determines your gas mileage isn't so much the speed you drive, but how you drive getting to that speed. I can drive 70 miles to work aggresivly passing everybody and downshifting everytime i do and use a 1/4 tank one way. If i drive the same speed but i am easy on takeoff and wait to pass until i can accelerate easily without downshifting, then i will usually use only an 1/8 of a tank. Its amazing how much of a diffrence you will see with this car in mileage. Try putting the car in neutral and coasting to a stop, try not to use boost on take off, 1st and second gears are geared rather low, third and up are taller. Don't floor it everytime you pass somebody, just get up to the speed you want to drive and pass them, just make sure you have time.

So my mileage is pretty normal then? I burned half a tank driving about 100 miles total. I have been doing what u just explained i shouldnt do. It just seems like that guage is going down toooo fast. I guess 22/30 is when u go full tank without even slightly tapping the gas.

the epa also tests the cars at 55mph. the mileage is a lot different at 55mph vs 75mph with more drag and rpm's. i get 220-240 when the get gas light blinks depending how i drove it. 100 miles at 1/2 tank left sounds right to me. you have to really drive it empty and top it off to cram more than 11 gallons in too, so be happy your tank is a 12.5 and not a 20 like a bigger car.

you also have to consider that mileage is going to vary upon your elevation, your tire pressure, the general quality of your car, and your mods. You can't push 400HP and expect 30+mpg, i guess what i am saying is that not everybody's mileage will be the same, remeber, our computers learn the way we drive and the air quality and all that good stuff, so since i live in a generally rural area, and that is where most of my driving is, the air quality may be better here than LA, so that makes a diffrence also. What psi do you run in your tires?

Also, don't beleive the gas gauge to much. I drove a good distance, and it was down to 1/4, so i divided whatever the mileage was (its been awhile since i did that) by 9 gallons. I was getting like 20-21 mpg! I went to the gas station and filled up, and only got just over 6 gallons in it! Go by the pump, not the gauge. I am convinced now that the gauge goes down way to fast and it is not completely accurate, probably to keep people from running out of gas and ruining their fuel pumps?
