the only reason to be running that low of comp is 4bar of boost and an 80mm turbo with no intercooler, a bad tuner and 87octane fuel

i lost no mpg going from 8.5 down to low compression. stop with the internet theorem, before you get stockpiled with chief for people to ignore.

People go with low compression that want to run a lot of boost and lots of timing.

You could either build an engine for lots of boost/timing and low compression or build on engine with generally lower boost/timing and higher compression.

All depends on what fuel your using, what your tuner wants, etc.

Because 4yrs ago, there was no such thing as a diablo sport. Dropping money for an AEM at a premium price at the time wasnt an option.

i was strictly 91octane, big turbo, and a piggyback...that was the best option for me at the time.

4yrs, going on 5yrs now at over 500hp the entire time on the same engiine...how many folks on this board can say that...ill thank the low compression for that.

with dsp's and ems being so cheap now and capable of having full control of timing, i wouldnt do low compression again, but i dont regret my decision at all.

k just from my knowledge the only reason to go that low was for low octane to increase the tuning window.
im surprised you didn't lose mileage did you do cams at the same time?

I'll never have to worry about knock, especially on e85. The only "knock" I get is because my cams are so noisy. I plan on turning off the knock sensor completely. I may not make as much power at 30 lbs as these guys that run a 8.5 or higher, but I won't ever have a limit on the amount of boost and timing I can run and still make power.
