Default Long rod, stroker or stock length rods

Which is the best to go with and why? My power goals are 800hp with an 8k redline minimum.

you want to stay away from a long rod like BC'S AND EAGLE'S. They can go to 8k rev but make sure you have the 625's bolts in them.
if i could do it over again i would go with a manley rod or crower

The only thing bad, if it is even bad is the crowers just come with standard crower rod bolts. I would rather do pauter myself but am thinking about doing oliver billet long rods with custom Arias pistons.

What's your opinion nutz? I have talked with darrell about his stroker but I also talked with another person who says using the rpm's is better.

I dont know enough to have an opinion I would like for some one to post rod ratios but other than that IDK. the stroker isnt a huge step in CID so the mechanics of the motor would be the deciding factor for me (piston speeds, piston dwell, rod ratio) but everything will work to an extent in any format but usually has a sweet spot for application. DCR and others have done well with em but my concern since I am not a sponcered guy or rich is liveability, are you tradeing power for life span

The better question is this, what turbo and nitrous setup are you planning to use? GT40/42? T04z? T51? Bigger? Either with a big spool shot? I would consider your horsepower goals, and calculate the VE for the stroked engine and the stock rod length engine, and then bounce your figures around on the compressor maps to find out what rpm you're actually going to need to get to to see 675whp (800bhp) without the use of nitrous. If you are shooting for 800whp, I don't thing keeping the stock rod length is even an option, of course, at that point you are looking at a different head more than likely(avenger head), as well as a wealth of other fab mods to keep the engine and trans inside the front clip and in 1 piece. Look for Chucksrt4(?). He did 600+whp on the BONE STOCK BOTTOM END, for about 2 or 3 months before it gave on him.

Honestly, if you've got the money to do it, Just have Darrell do it for you. You really can't beat what DCR offers, assuming you can wait over winter for the build because it will take them 6 months).

My turbo selection is a HTA3586r t3 housing and a direct port nitrous kit (100 shot).

The head that will go with this motor is a DCR "RACE" head with Crane 18's.

I have all supporting mods for 800+ hp.

Are we talking crank horsepower or wheel horsepower here?

mark my words, 'that will never happen with a 35r and 100 shot.' You're talking about making over 950 crank horsepower with a 65lb turbo. you're gonna need to go A LOT bigger than that.

This is a 75lb turbo actually and it has made over 800hp on an evo already...

I'm not this is going on my srt...

Honestly its not the turbo I'm concerned about...Its a HTA3586 (75lb hta wheel) with a 100shot...should break 800hp easy...

Its the rod/piston selection I am trying to figure out. So stock length rods are out, I guess long rods it is. I was shooting for a 1.55 rod ratio which I can get the specs for, I just wanted some feedback.

Edited: Rod ratio
