I cant figure out why my car is smoking severely. I just built the entire engine do to the fact that it was smoking.
I drove it an hour home from where I store it and all was fine up until the last ten minutes. The car started pouring smoke out of the exhaust. I dont know what to do. The engine build information can be found here.... Ude lose's ROTM thread February 2012 Its at the point now as to where I cant even drive the car (not that I would in this state) without creating a smoke screne behind me. My exhaust system is as follows, Lcr S3 3.5 to 3 inch O2 housing, 3 inch dp with electric cutout, stock SRT mid section, Sxt appearance package dual tip muffler. At first I thought that there was oil trapped in the exhaust system and it was just burning off. But at the rate this smoke is coming out, I dont think that could possibly be the culprit anymore. I have a brand new pcv valve, a catch can, and a inline check valve. I also replaced the oil returnline gasket today. I thought that maybe the oil seal in the turbo was bad. So i sent it out and got the 69x upgrade from Bob at F&F. I read that the check valves occasionally go bad, so I removed that and it still smokes. Just not as bad. I also checked the spark plugs and they were dry. #1 was a tad bit more dirty than the rest but nothing to be worried about. I'm totally stumped as to what is making my car smoke like a freight train. If anybody has any ideas please let me know. .. |

I bought the car new in 03. If I wasn't emotionally attached I would sell it and dump the money into my evo. That thing is an animal already, I wonder what it would be like with $6k into the engine
![]() Who am i kidding, I would never get rid of my SRT no matter how bad it pisses me off sometimes. I also read a thread from AGP that does not recomend using a check valve at all. Especially inline with a pcv valve. Last edited by Ude Lose; 03-24-2012 at 06:49 PM. |

if compression is good, ~150#/cyl -- pull the turbo, i be the turbine is coated with oil
spark plugs are probably oil fouled too

I took the v band clamp off of the turbo/manifold yesterday and there was oil in it,as much oil as that little clamp can hold. I cleaned it and reinstalled.
Today the car is still smoking. I took the muffler off to see if that may have had unburnt oil in it and drove the car. Car is still smoking. I reinstalled the muffler. I took the V band clamp off of the turbo/manifold again today. Has oil in it again. Im no expert but I think oil is somehow getting past the turbo and getting into the manifold and creating smoke coming out of the exhaust. This is a fresh turbo that i received from bob an F&F less than a week ago. I dont know what to do. Basically there is oil getting past the turbo somehow. What would you all assume the problem is? |

Yeah man, I hope he takes care of me. The turbo has 50-60 miles on it the most. Never went past 8-10lbs of boost. I have never even gone wot on my new engine build yet. Soo disappointed, I am beginning to grow tired taking this turbo in and out of the car.
