the air while at an idle will not be cooled because you are not moving which is what cools the air. air to air cooler. does that clear anything up?

so its normal for my car to read that hot? also they said my cars dumping more fuel because of that and my car is running rich with just S2 injectors what should I do?

ya, it's normal... 140 is a lil high, in vegas, my IAT's are ~110-130 depending on outside weather...

assphault out here can be 160degrees in the summer...

as long as it cools down once you start moving (sucking in air) you'll be good...

at idle, the motor and engine bay get no circulation so all the heat is chillen...

dont worry about it... you wont "dump" more fuel at idle.....

What are you guys setup for the 20G for getting close to 400hp? I'm getting my ass handed to me down here by E1`s, Gt2871r`s, and 50trims. Right now I have: S20G kit, 3"o2 housing, s2 injectors, mapclamp, quick whips direct fit fmic, ngk plugs, shot shifter, manual boost controller (spike 20lbs hold 17lbs). What route should I take next? Right now I'm throwing an overboost code a lot and its kicking me into limp mode should I go stg1? Sorry for the questions guys, I'm just trying to figure out what I should do next

well... your comp sees your boost and your map isnt clamped...

those 2 things are holding you back, big time...

at 17psi, you're prolly around 310-330whp.... nowhere near a shitty tuned 50 trim... (prollly have a boost leak or two as well)..

figure those things out and get back to us...

p.s. i've run stage 1 for a little less than 4 years with no problems... my comp hasnt seen boost (via solenoids) since june of 2003 and my map has been clamped for a long time..

Hey vegasDSM, when does the S20g see max boost (and what is the max boost?) I like the idea and the cost but it is a lagger, I'll go diferent.

Wow...I missed the 400+whp club today.

It was mainly because my AFRs were still in the 11.0s with boost spiking at 25 and falling to 21. I was able to get 360whp and 359wtq. I guess that is not too bad. Track times were 12.907 @112...I really didn't feel like breaking an axle before shipping the car to Hawaii, so I took the launches very easy after getting wheel hop with the Drag Radials. It was still good enough to beat an STI before the 1/8 mile.

it depends on your WGA as well as supporting mods..

i have the WG that is adjustable (minimum 15psi) and i've had it up to 25psi..

at 15psi, it was quite laggy (i.e. full boost by 4200rpms).
at 22psi (what i run when my transmission isnt Fukk'd) i see full boost around 3500 rpms...

cams and headwork will change this around as well as a larger downpipe as the hahn downpipe is uber-small...

good luck w/it... youc ould always put in a lil shot of juice w/your sweet-ass nitrous setup (troll) to get full boost at a lower rpm..

Okay so through all my decision's I'm deciding to go with the hrc Portfueler after talking to Brad at HRC. One thing I was triping about is he said he had a guy show him the dyno sheet of a s20g with close to 470hp to the wheel!!! My main thing I was asking about was the blue srt that did an 11 something on street tires. He said all he had was a clutchmasters 4 puck clutch, the hrc kit + the portfueler, the fuel pump, greddy profec-b spec II, an intake, a 3" turbo back exhaust, and the 15lb spring to achieve the 11 something pass on street tires. Has anyone achieved this type of performance or anything? I know he said that the s20g can handle close to 30lbs and if tuned right can get up to 500hp to the wheels. Is that really possible??? Like I said this came from Brad at HRC

Well, I think Brad is probably hyping up his product to make a sale.

I know I have some more gains to make by leaning out to low 12 AFRs and increasing the boost but I don't think 470whp is possible. I would love for someone to prove me wrong with evidence.

Don't get me wrong the S20G and Portfueler combo is great for its street manners. I've beaten a majority of the cars I've come across to include modded Cobras and WS6 Trans AMs.

470 is possible with cams, headwork, and a lot of other supporting mods...

toss in some happy juice (n2o) w/just a 20g and the fooler w/a decent toon and it's definately attainable..

man that sucks a 20g getting full boost at 3400rpm , and not being capable of making 470 with out head work and n20 . it may just be better getting a 50 trim with the same spool time and make 470
