I should have the custom Wiseco pistons here in roughly a week... then the crank goes to the machine shop, all machine work will be done, then the crank goes to get ion nitride coated, then we assemble... I'd say, a month and a half.

We will have to offer the pistons through us. Wiseco isn't going to make them a shelf stock setup, they want to give us a proprietary part number and sell to us only. We'll pass the pn and savings to you guys.

It'll hold up.

Very nice! Make damn sure the measurements check out with the ones I provided... I think that the 6 bolt has a smaller pin size.

Affordability is the goal here, we'll keep you guys posted!

If you want, we can sprinkle some magic fairy dust on the parts to make the price even more worth it. lol. Believe it, hopefully more parts will be here soon so I can post up more pics for you guys.

Sure, if you want us to source the parts for you. It's really going to depend on what rod you want...

We buy a stock crank from Mopar and take it to a very reputable machine shop out here, after that is done we send it out to be ion nitride coated by Racing Plasma PVD & Ion Nitride Plasma Coatings USTEL# 800.632.6281.

The Ion Nitride treatment is interesting. What about Cryo treating the crank as well? Or even the rods and pistons... I think you can even do it to the block if you wanted to.

I can't find the price list, but I sent some axles to these guys: Motorsports - 300 Below, Inc.

I needed stronger axles, and there aren't any available for my car. They've held up to a full season of drag racing and autocross so far. I think it only cost me about $175 for the axles. I don't think having an engine done was all that expensive.

I've heard people using the Ion treated cranks on these engines, but don't think I've ever read anyone using a Cryo treated crank. Could be a cheaper alternative, or maybe both processes could be used on the same crank to make it even stronger.

Why would it snap? I thought the point of it was to make it stronger to keep it from snapping... unless it doesn't actually work... My otherwise stock axles that have been cryo treated haven't snapped yet...

The problem with making things harder, is that most of the time they become more brittle

tcglass1 is correct, we don't recommend the cryo treat on internals as most do not. The ion nitride finish is about all you can do to increase strength in a cast crank (to my knowledge).

Yes, and I'm not positive on the weight.

I also found a new rod part number for you guys for the scat rods.
2-5906-1771-1038-866
I'll go ahead and update the part numbers post with this, too.

According to Mopar they weigh 40lbs and I have no idea where DCR gets their stuff done but Ion Nitride coating is Ion Nitride coating... can't really jazz that up.

Scat rods are another option!!!
