Default evo VIII turbo installed

So $550 later and bout 2 days she is all together. took me awhile to figure out how i wanted to make my coolant lines and oil line. Thanks too a local shop (Midwest Hose) for there help with fittings and lines. I decided to stay internally gated and no port work for now. I want to stay on the cheap side and see what just the EVO VIII turbo will do with supporting fuel mods. On my stocker i was running full E85 and made 290whp 350wtrq... On the evo turbo i will be running 91 pump till i get some 1000cc injectors. I hope for anything above 350whp on 20psi and pump....I love the everyday drive ability no more surging and ptp . Hear are some pics of it all installed

well i have a question on all the big turbos and the stocker they all have a boost reference/vac line right off the turbo for the wastegate the evo turbo does not have that can i just tap into any vac line? i tapped into a vac line on the throttle body and seems to be working. I also have no spike it hits 16lbs and holds it 4th gear held 19lb never has went over 19lb so wondering if its the vac line? i know that no spike is good but these turbos internally gated should have a spike right ? the evo guys do...

well i didn't have the evo j pipe.. if thats what u are talking bout .. I cnc a alum flange that bolts to the evo turbo and welded a alum pipe to the flange. The charge pipe is about 2 inches off right now from bolting to the block underneath the car. IM having a pipe bent and going to cut another flange out and weld them together and see how it all fits then. i cut bout 1 inch off so far on the charge pipe. the charge pipe is the only thing that is giving me problems

What pcm / tuning device are you using?

You will only have a spike if your wga is tightened a lot. Boost spike is from the wga taking too long to open up, which is normally from a heavy spring or high tension on the spring (ie tightened a lot). You can use any boost only source for the wga, but closer to the turbo is better. It isnt too hard to drill and tap the turbo to install a 1/8 npt fitting with barb on it, shoulda done that before.

But anything off the charge pipe or off the cold side pipe will work fine. Most likely it is the vacuum and boost source you are using now that is eliminating the boost spike, move it to a boost only (pre-throttle body) and you will have your spike.

Yes, to really tune the car correctly, you will need a 3bar map and tip. You can use cheaper versions than a mopar, like the GM versions, to save some cash. Turbo666 has used them regularly in his tuning and I think he has found no real issues.

you probably wont get much of a spike with that turbo because of the difference in displacement/volumetric efficiency. i forget, was there a difference in the evo 8 turbos? was one offered in a 6.5 and one in a 10cm2 turbine side? or were they all 8cm2?

Wow, nice!!!

So whats the actually breakdown of prices???

Stg 3 manifold - Price? Where bought?
Evo VIII - Price? Where bought?
Stage 3 O2 housing - Price? Where bought?
Stage 3 WGA - Price? Where bought?

Im not calling you a liar but i just dont see how you did it for 550? The turbo, o2 and WGA arent hard to source for cheap...But the manifold is next to impossible.
