i'm searching for a big turbo set up. i've done tons of reasearching on other websites forums, however i see very little on this turbo.
i've been debating between a D44, D48, 50T.
so if anyone that has a D48 that can give an opinion i'de like the info.
I have it and love it. what do you want to know about it.
well i know you have one. you have one for sale on the club forum.
i'm still considering buying it if you still have it. just trying to see if you're the only guy that has one to get some more opinions
BTW, was yours in the 48 or 63??

I think people are afraid of this turbo because agp mentions that it has a possibility of surging when place in a .48 housing... most people wanting the .63 just say fugit and go for the D55. If your gonna go with a .63 housing you might as well get 50T or larger imo...
yeah. i figured that's the reason why no one has it.
i was hoping to find a couple ppl that have that set up to see if they had surge issues.
but so far just one person has it.
i think i'm leaning more towards D44 b/c of the spool time. 50T's a bit laggy w/out a lot of flow mods.

if you want stock turbo spool time (instant) get a dbb d44... The spool time on that thing has to be crazy...I have a standard journal bearing d44 and if coupled with a GOOD free flowing exhaust, good intercooler and a non restrictive cold air it spools pretty damn quick. If your looking for a fast spooling street turbo and you do a lot of street runs definitely go with the d44.
I was debating going just a bit bigger with the d48 but I was worried it might get the laggy spool of a 50t and make the power of a...well, d48. lol.
Now, I may get shit about this but I have seen decent modded d44's pulling on nicely modded 50trims. Why? My guess is the fact that the d44 makes its power earlier in the rpm range and makes good use of it. The 50 trim has a "peaky" power band and I am sure pulls harder up top but its playing catch up....At least from what I have seen on the street. I wonder what a dbb 50t with a 68 ar hot side and some ported parts might spool like.

d48 is a sick street turbo...... super fast hard hitting spool and great times at the track. 1sikACR has the .48 back half and made 430whp on that back half. I would like to see his car with a .63 AR but the .48 AR makes for sick spool and good times. I think his car has 11.3's in it as it sits
