I would imagine you would have surging issues. The .48 is gonna hurt you up top, so I would stick with a .63.

Im goning to be using a .82 in the spring time, certainly NOT a .48 Even on a .63 the spool is right on the surge line, I have even heard it surge a tiny bit when spooling in 4th. Full spool by 3400 and 20psi by 3200. I don't see why you would use a .48

Dunno, i def know what surging sounds like and feels like, it surged both on the street and on the dyno.

But again, i was really TRYING to get it to spool early with a lot of load, going WOT at 2100rpms or so in 4th with an antilag type tune, I would hear and feel it surge around 2900-3000 rpms. I changed up the tune to just be lean and higher timing and spool seemed the same but no more surging.

blu... .82 housing? why? at that point wouldnt you just want to go with a bigger turbo?

Eh, I am convinced this turbo can make some big numbers if setup right, and I am aiming to do it. I have planned out my top and bottom end build, and with the right setup theres no reason I can't keep the stockish D55 spool (3500 or so) but see 550whp all on a journal bearing $900 turbo.

But youre right, most likely i will just go bigger. I just want the best powerband i can get.

I dont know much about "surging". Why does a turbo do that and is really bad for a turbo to surge? How does surging sound like?
