Hey everyone i recently just put a bws turbo on my car, i have the supporting bolt on mods and i had it tuned through a predator. For some reason i have a weird situation going on with my boost, i dont know what company did the turbo, but i know it has the 16g 44lb. Wheel and new thrust bearings and was ported. It only had 350 miles on it so im not trying to beat on it to bad till i break it in but just trying to see what its got. When in 5th gear (low rpms) i do a 2 gear drop and floor it, it sounds like it spools no problem, and slowly gets to about 16 psi by the time i reach my rev limit(my stock would spike and drop to 19psi almost every gear), then before i reach my rev limit i shift and floor it again and it only hangs around 10 psi, i have a agp adjustable waste gate it just adjusted slightly but was just wondering if anyone knows what could be going on. Thanks.
Totally copy pasting duster's pids but I don't think he would care since we're just trying to figure out your issue:
Ambient Temperature-->
AMB TEMP--Outside Air temp
Knock control-->
KnK ST Retard--show amount of timing retarded for PCM's instant response to Knock
KNK LT Retard--show amount of timing retarded for PCM's long term or learned response to Knock. If the PCM sees a consistent amount of ST KR, it will use LT KR to try to keep ST at 0.
Spark-->
Actual Spark Cy1( you can do Cyl 2,3,4 also but there's USUALLY little difference)--Final timing advance after all modifiers.
EPDSS-->
RPM
Foundation inputs-->
MPH--Car's speed
Injector Control
AVG TOTAL WORKING PW
Map-->
AV MAP TO USE--Absolute pressure inside your intake manifold(Boost = MAP - BARO)
AV TIP TO USE--use min TIP psi as "Baro"
FUEL FLOWS--->
1/1 LONG TERM ADAP--How much your PCM is adjusting the fuel table--Usually under 15% is fine, Over 20% is borderline, more than 25% is not fine
1/1 SHORT TEM ADAP--Show instantaneous Upstream O2 sensor adjustment to fuel table
BARO-- Barometric pressure--Needed for boost calc(Boost = MAP - BARO)
PRATIO ---MAP/BARO
TOTAL VE BANK1---% Volumetric Efficiency—main fuel table
TURBO TOTAL AIR PORT MASS FLOW S---Actual Mass flow through engine
COOLANT TEMP-->
ECT--Engine Coolant Temperature
CHARGE TEMP-->
ACT--Air Charge Temperature--Measured by ACT sensor in cold pipe right before throttle body
DESIRED FUEL AIR-->
OPEN LOOP FA--Commanded A/F that the PCM is trying to reach. 93tune=11.77:1. THIS IS NOT YOUR TRUE A/F!! You need a wideband to measure your actual A/F. OLFA is usually anywhere from .2 to 3 points or more different from TRUE A/F.
Torque Management-->
TURBO TOTAL TRQ DESIRED = Desired Torque table value (TURBO TRQ POTENTIAL STP) minus most, but not all of the PCM's Torque limits on ECT/Gear/MPH/RPM ect.
Wastegate Control-->
TURBO WG DC--Final WG solenoid duty cycle
TURBO TRQ POTENTIAL STP--Desired Torque value from DT table BEFORE and modifiers. Changing "Boost" on your DSP will change this value
TURBO TOTAL AF DES FILTD--Airflow calculation used to determine what row of the WG DC table to use
TURBO AF ERR—Difference in TURBO TOTAL AF DES vs TURBO TOTAL AIR PORT MASS FLOW
TURBO WG RPM TERM----Actual Wg DC% from your PCM WG DC table
TURBO WG BASE---Base WG DC% = RPM TERM +ACT + AMB + Baro
okay so i took a data log today and i basically did a 3rd gear pull and a 4th gear pull. hopefully i can upload it here successfully, never done this before so please bare with me lol. (i looked up how to do it and people sid to use dipositfiles. com) DepositFiles
I'm not sure why I didn't suggest for you to check for boost leaks but make sure you do that. That should always be the first step when boost is in question.
Disclaimer: I'm not any type of certified tuner.
Based on your log, you WG function looks good, your Injector Duty Cycle is really low. What type of fuel setup do you have? What are your a/f like when at WOT.
Check for boost leaks and then log another run. Do not log again until you boost leak test your car! On the next log, cruise in 3rd gear and gun it at 3000RPM until redline. Do 2 or 3 pulls like that in one log. Also, monitor your a/f every 500 RPM between 3000-6000 RPM.
I dont know if anyone cares but i found out what my problem was, the guy who owned the car before me told me he put the 19 lb. Spring in the waste gate but that was a lie. So a buddy of mine let me barrow his spring and sure as shit it was hitting 20-25 lbs. No leaks
BUT heres a kicker, i lowered the boost since i have the stock boost gauge so i dont want to boost past what i know and i did a bunch of pulls and its awesome, then yesterday out of no where it makes almost like a wooden train whistle noise around 15 psi. Up to it, it sounds fine, and if i slam on the gas and blow past 15 psi and go straight to 20 psi the noise doesnt happen. Does anyone have any idea what that could be? I thought i blew a bearing but it sounds fine when its just not at 15 psi. Im starting to think it might be my intake or something
Never mind lol i figured it out, i loosened the waste gate bolt to the point where the flap was just past the pressure of the spring so i guess the amount of pressure of the boost was slightly blowing it open. Tightened it up alittle and the noise is gone, not going to go over 18 psi on my own till i put the new gauge in
