It didn't happen gradually it just started smoking when I parked. I didn't floor it today or run it hard in any way. It only happens after the car is warmed up. The car idles and starts like normal. It doesn't have a solid plume of smoke coming out it's just intermittent. It does smoke some when cruising.
I know some people have had probs with the oil feed line to the turbo being too big and requiring a restrictor. I don't have a restrictor so I know this could be the issue.
Going to do a compression test when I get home and install a restrictor
Ok...no smoke is coming out while cruising. If I let off the gas for a while and then get back on it there is a big puff of smoke.
What this is leading me to believe is that it's the turbo seal. When cruising there is some back pressure in the exhaust holding some of the oil pressure back. When I let off of the gas the back pressure is gone and the oil pressure is free to push some oil past the seal. It burns and when I push the gas again it puffs out. If I let off the gas for a couple of seconds it doesn't really do it (not enough time for enough oil to come out). I have to let off for 5-10 sec for the big puff to come.
My 2 1/2yo daughter wants to say hi to everyone....Hi
yea some very light ticking
I did a compression test also and
1#148
2#160
3#160
4#160
U might want to put a stethascope with a prob on the block and listen for any ticking man
Like i said it only smoked @ idle and also once the car warmed up.
Did the final test I was going to do tonight....I wiggled the turbo shaft and damn that think is blown, gone, fried, boogered, fugged up, pooped out...you get the idea.
yea my turbo had shit loads of shaft play once i took her out...if i were u man i would check ur oil and make sure there is not any metal shavings in there to be on the safe side...
How could bad bearings cause a 50 trim to burn oil?
Well my situation...the bearings were wore out so bad at idle the pressure from the piston were actually sucking up oil into the combustion chamber, the wore out bearings were letting the pistion get a lower stroke and throwing up xtra oil that the rings couldnt hold back-but that on my STOCK turbo-iam not sure about a 50 trim....
