Default AMS 850R turbo kit

I'm in the process of saving for a good turbo kit. I've seen all that AGP has to offer, but now I'm more curious about the $$$$$ kit available from AMS.

Is there anyone with real world experience with this kit, that could give me some info?

Fitment.

Turbo used - the 850R is a somewhat custom turbo from my understanding. A Precision 6262 compressor section, with a custom anti-surge compressor cover and specific turbine housing. But I'm sure there are other turbo options.

Power made at different boost levels.

Spool characteristics.

Built engine or not? - I know a built engine is preferred. But I would also be interested to know how the kit performs on a stock or near stock engine.

Engine management used.

I could get a full AGP kit rather quick, but the AMS kit looks top notch from what I can see. And I know what power the Evo's make that come out of their shop. So I'm sure the SRT4 kit must perform. Thanks for any and all help!

unless your buiilding your motor dont even bother. that turbo would be useless on a stock motor. save your money get a AGP kit and built your motor.

AMS doesn't sell turbo kits for our platform anymore. I tried already...

But there is a member on here who has a kit for sale, it has a gt37 turbo on it though. It is brand new, I think he was asking $4000 shipped or something like that.

ughhh...Buy a AGP kit, stick to the log manifold. It makes everything easier in the long run.

If you get that kit, I would also get AEM EMS with a healthy fuel system also a good tuner and you will be golden. Everyone is going to say get a smaller turbo, get a Log manifold etc..Dont do what everyone else says on here to do..

With the AMS kit, build the motor first. When I say build, fully build it. Head porting, bottom end, tranny, etc.

You should piece together your own turbo kit for cheaper IMO. The main part of their kit is the tubular manifold.

Unless you want a SUPER high HP car that's barely drivable.

Dang. That's odd if they don't offer it anymore. It's still listed on the AMS website.

Anyway, now I don't know what to do. Everyone has AGP, and I have never really been one to follow the crowd so to speak. But they are proven parts, so I'm not against it.

What about the RTernie manifolds? Is he still around? I wouldn't mind piecing a kit together around his sidewinder manifold. And AEM ems is definitely going to be purchased.

Check out the CTI tubular kit, very good quality easy to install and also very fair pricing.. I would HIGHLY suggest getting a V-band flange for the downpipe..
Tubular Manifold and Borgwarner
