The car now has a really bad drone around 2400 rpm which I hope is just from the leftover weld ribs inside the cat. I am still going to get a different downpipe that is straight through. Well I took the car out for a quick ride with the boost controller set to off so it was just on the wastegate spring. It should have been 16-18 psi boost and when I went WOT I saw the boost fly past 25 psi and the car hit some kind of fuel cut or something as I was pushing the clutch in. I turned the boost controller on and set the boost to zero and set the limiter to 14 psi and tried again and it still went past 25 psi before I could shut it down.

Does anyone know what would cause the car to loose control of boost all of a sudden? It seems almost like the wastegate wasnt opening because I couldnt hear it. Back to the drawing board tomorrow before I have to leave for a picnic. I have no idea why it lost control of boost. Any ideas.

that is why i love living in indiana no emissions testing!!!!!

Alright I got all my problems fixed for now(knock on wood). The reason the boost was out of control was due to the vac line on the compressor housing popping off. Car runs really well right now other than a horrible drone noise from the exhaust which I hope is just being caused by the metal ribs that are left inside the cat converter which the baffles were attached too. I am hoping to be back at the track this Friday for AGP Flash + 50 trim track times...........take 2.

Honestly I would get rid of the EBC and get a good quality MBC.

The only trouble I have ever had with this EBC is reading high in the past months. After I fixed that vaccum line this weekend and took the car out again my Defi boost gauge was reading 21 psi and the Greddy EBC would say it saw a peak boost of 29.4 psi. I do like having the ability to just push a button and switch from low to high boost. Are there any MBC with in car control that are any good.

Turbo XS High Performance Dual Stage Boost Controller!!! I used to run one on my neon. 17psi on the low stage in 1st & 2nd with switching to 25psi or 29psi depending on what gas I was running for 3rd & 4th at the track. Lil switch I had mounted right next to the ebrake handle so as I hit 2nd I could flick the switch and throw for 3rd.

Went back to the track and my driving let me down. So close to 11s on streets and I missed 4th gear. Here is the link to the rest of the story. If anyone knows anything about the problem I mention with AFRs in 4th gear let me know, thanks.

AGP ECU track times, take 2

Hoping to get mine to the track soon, I need a new clutch.. This one doesn't like sticky-ish tires... Holds from a roll though.

My stocker is holding up on 15-17psi so far , I really need to get an SBC stage 3 so I can crank the boost up to 22psi.

I am looking to get a 50 trim here very soon and have been reading up on the a bit but am looking for some advice.

I am looking at the AGP 50 trim turbo kits: Both the standard AGP 50 trim and the DBB 50 trim. I am also looking at the .48ar and the .63ar turbines.

Ok, I am running an E1 turbo now which spools pretty quick. If I hammer it at 3000 rpms it is at full spool almost immediately. Alittle slower than stock but not by much. My stock spooled around 2900 rpm, I would say this is maybe 200-300 rpm slower.

Anyway, I still want the 50 trim to spool fairly quickly but still have the potential to reach 500 whp if I decide I want to go that far. I am mainly looking for 400 whp on pump gas for daily driving. I also run meth injection.

Which setup would be the best for me to go with?

1. 50 trim DBB .63ar
2. 50 trim (journal bearing) .63ar
3. 50 trim DBB .48ar
4. 50 trim (journal bearing) .48ar

My friend is saying the 50 trim DBB .63ar. Which I am inclined to go with at the moment. I want it spooled NLT 4000 rpm. Preferrably between 3300-3800 rpm. I don't want to be waiting and waiting for the boost to come on towards redline.

My car would be run off of a S2 no toys PCM, S2 inj, walboro, FRL, and PTP FP rewire. Obviously if I run out of fuel with the boost I want to run I will keep it safe until I get some 650's or 750cc injectors. Also, I use the FM wga to control boost now with the E1 turbo. Would I need a MBC/EBC to control boost with the 50 trim or can the wastegates that come with them (turbonetics evolution) control boost like the FM wga does? Sorry, I have never used an external wastegate so that is the reason for the stupid question.

Thanks guys for the help.

In my sig is a link to my website where all my mods are located if you need to see what I am running to provide a good answer.

I am also waiting to hear back from John (PTP) before going ahead and buying the turbo kit to see what he has.

Well with either of the .48 ar you will have trouble reaching 500 whp on race gas without some spray. They will spool faster than the .63 ar but lose top end due to the wheel. The dbb is the way to go if you have the extra money either way.
