When I had the .48 50T it hit full boost at ~3100rpm with a Hallman MBC. Alot of people talk about how the .48 will run out of steam past 26-27psi but I believe that is really a bunch of crap. Someone needs to prove it though. I think that it will not breathe quite as well as a .63 AR at 27+psi but by the time the .63 catches up to the .48 you will have already crossed the 1/4 mile mark.

Bold statements , and very interesting too.
So you are stating you believe there are NO real advantages of the .63 trim over the .48 trim, and that the .48 trim is actually capable of doing the 1/4 mile faster ?

seems like it. Honestly I like the .63 spool time, around 3500 ish. That bit of lag is invaluable from a dig with getting traction from my experience. I hated the fact that the stock turbo came in so fast

Yeah ... But we're not comparing big turbo to stock turbo.
The difference in lag from a .48 to a .63 is only about 300 rpms. Most .48 trims with a good boost controller will full spool at about 3200 rpms.
The question here is this :

Can the better top end power of the .63 trim actually overtake the quicker spool of the .48 trim in the 1/4 mile is the real question here ?

I have seen a LOT of opinions both ways, but I want to know if anyone has REAL GOOD concrete evidence. If the .63 doesn't, I would think the .48 would make a better street/strip turbo then.

After seeing the races blacksrt311 or whatever the hell his name is did with a .48 vs. .63, they're just about dead even from a roll.

On a stock SRT-4 with no internal mods the .48 is faster in the 1/4. On a car with cams and head the .63 would be a better choice.

Here are pump gas 20 psi timeslips on my .48 50 on drag radials. two runs back to back no change in tune and AFRs 11.8:1

the 1/4 mile mph is good for 20psi but the eighth is exceptional. I have never seen another turbo run 96mph in the eighth at 20 psi. with the .48 I am a good 3-4 car lengths ahead and another 50 probably wont real me in before the traps unless hes running 2-3 more lbs of boost.

Now that's what I'm talking about. That turbo runs exactly where I would want it too. I'm sure it can run 11's on pump and with race gas run a lot better. The .48 50T is the turbo I'm definitely going with. Stage 4 all the way.

that explains alot...

let me put things in perspective...

i originally had a s60 (62lb/min borg warner turbo). 22psi. 20* rising to 25* on a SCT tune. pump gas...

1st nite out... and me w/ the super60 (borg warner) on pump vs the 47lb s3 on hom and 22psi, and a 49lb s3 on race gas and 22psi.

YouTube - FNF47LB S3 VS DCR49LB S3 VS PTPS60

w/o me changing ANYTHING BUT my turbo (50t/.48ar)...same tune...just lower psi (20psi vs the 22psi of the last race). pump gas to his 47lb s3 on hom and 23psi. i gained back like 6cars! tune was untouched.

YouTube - holsetvsS3vs50trim

the 49lb s3 from the 1st clip...but now w/ a DCR Pro series head. crane 16's. tuned by reed and i earlier that day on the dyno.
him and i both on race gas...both on 25psi...

YouTube - dcr49lbvsdrastic50trimvsholset 35/40

spool time is everything my friend. well not everything...but a HUGE part of the equation. my top end is AWESOME to about 6400...

i made some minor cam adjustments...my butt dyno tells me my top end has further improved.

either provide facts/data, or sit back w/ ur useless opinions...
