I bought the car used. The previous owner gave me a small bottle of touch up paint that he bought. Its kinda old. Does touch up paint have a lifespan? Can i just shake it up and use it? Any suggestions on how to use it like a special type of brush or just any small brush from any painting departent? I'm guessing just clean the area, apply and let dry? Main reason is this will be my first winter w/ snow and i don't want rust. Thanks in advanced.
Make sure its a single stage touchup paint. And simply applying it and letting it dry will render it looking like hell. To properly apply touchup paint, apply a light coat, then wetsand with 2000 grit, apply another coat, wetsand with 2000 grit. Do this until the scratch is covered and the paint fills in perfectly with the surrounding paint. Grab some Compounding solution and a rotary buffer with compounding pad, and buff out the scratches from the 2000 grit paper.
