Alright, I was coming home from work tonight with a glass bottle of Italian Soda (I work at Whole Foods Market). The damn thing had a plastic cap that I thought was on tight. I'm driving home and I reach for the bottle to make sure it doesn't fall on the floor and I feel a big wet puddle. I get home, come to find out the bottle top wasn't closed tight and spilled all over the passenger base cushion, leaking all the way through to the floor and the lower back bottom cushion. I am pissed, I soaked up most of the soda, and sprayed Fabreez the fuck out of the cushion.
I'm glad the seats are black because hopefully it doesn't stain much, what I am worried about is the seat being sticky (my girlfriend sits there mostly).
Anyone have any experience with spilling a drink on the seats (I KNOW I KNOW, YOU'RE NOT SUPPOSED TO HAVE ANY LIQUID DRINKS IN THE CAR!!! I KNOW!). What is a good clean up solution? I'm leaving the windows open so it can air-dry.

1. pull the seat.
2. soak up amap.
3. Get can of auto carpet/apolstery cleaner. I like 3M prducts.
4. Use shop-vac w/o the filter.

Well, like I said, it's the middle of the night (1:40AM now.) So most of those options are out. I did soak up as much as I could but being dark it was hard to see. I think I'll go for the 3M upholstry and carpet cleaner tomorrow morning, but FAK! I just rolled the windows down tonight while going out to let the wind dry.
Like I said, my biggest concern was for the seats to become sticky, which I hope a quarter bottle of Febreez should help.
Anyone else got any ideas? Again, I know I should be shot for spilling a drink in my car.
Ok, you may want to re-wet the area w/ water and soak that up. Repeat this process 'till it comes out clear. If you have very hard/rusty tap water maybe use distilled. Or just wet it down good with the apolstery shampoo. You don't want it to dry w/ sugar or coloring still in there. Also, throw the fabreeze away. Fabreeze is not a stain lifter it's an odor lifter. Sorry, I guess I didn't realize how late it was last night. I should have suggested the water then. Sorry, I hope everything works out for ya.
I've never tried to pull the seat covers. I meant the whole seat from the car. It sounded like the mess was way under there. Easiest to remove while fully reclined via the rear door. After you take out the four bolts, obviously.
Possibly get an absorbent, somewhat high quality cotton/terry cloth.
Dunk it in rubbing alcohol, apply it down on the seat. Hopefully the cloth you choose is at as wide as the butt area.
Does your gf have a . . . . no, bad question. Sorry.
Anyway, try the above with little fear of fading or melting anything. If you go to the store to get a big old bottle, definitely choose the 75% alcohol over the 90% or whatever to be safe.

Always test a little area. But, I see it happened yesterday, so let us know what you do/did.

Well it's been a day and it's drying out, should I still try to soak it in water?

I guess, if it seems to be working. But please, stop the soda habit. Drink good old bottled water insstead. Stop the sodas altogether and see the difference it'll make on the scale.
I'm watching the 1932 version of Dr. Jeckyll and Mr. Hyde. It's in England, and the way they say Jeckyll is like "Jeeckyl". Too funny, those old English folks. They can't even speak , uh, American.
should be a big zipper up the back of the seat, unzip it and the cover should come right off. yeah febreze won't get it out, just make that sticky spot smell nice... but yeah, i've got some blue can of carpet/upholstery cleaner that works wonders on small spots. might even be able to take the cover off and have it dry cleaned? soak and vacuum though, soak and vacuum.
youre telling me you can easily take the entire cover off the seat? I took the 2 halves apart and I thought there were some straps holding it to the metal of the seat insides?
