Default Scratches in windows

My rear window has a scratch from a razor blade... It's actually sliced into the window. Is there anyway to fix it? It's about six inches long.

you could get some steel wool, and go over it. They have 3 different grades, and then go over it with some polishing compound on a high speed buffer.

Glass is tough to remove scratches from, and I'd leave it to the pros. While steel wool can reduce the depth, it will likely leave a little scuff on the glass which can look worse than the initial scratch.

Novus is a company that I've used to fix glass problems in the past, and they are nationwide. I have no affiliation with them, just had success with their process of buffing glass. It's a specialized process and the right training, tools, and technique are worth the extra $$. Look online for replacement value of the glass first, as scratch repair can cost upwards of $100.

My $.02, and hope this helps.

Here is some more info from their website:

NOVUS Windshield

The SRP™ Scratch Removal system removes unsightly scratches from windshields, side or back glass caused by faulty wipers, ice scrapers, tree limbs, road debris...even vandalism. SRP Scratch Removal is equally effective on home or office windows and other glass structures.

SRP’s patented grinding process actually removes the scratch. The area is then restored to like-new condition by polishing. Gone are potentially dangerous or distracting scratches. With SRP Scratch Removal, your view of the world is clear and undistorted.
