Default removing scratches, keyed car

Somebody keyed my car and I plan to use "Kit scratch remover" on it. Is there anything I need to watch out for? Just polish away? Is there any chance of breaking through the paint if I use to much pressure?

Also some dead bugs on my bumper seemed to etch into the clear coat, do you think it would work on this to?

did the scratches go down to bear metal? if so..you are looking at wet sanding and quite possibly a repsray to get rid of them.

if you are talking about light scratches and swirl marks, you get get rid of them by using a random orbit polisher with a good product.

take it to a detailer. They have access to a lot of professional grade meguire's products that can usually remove it. While you can order them online, you're going to want a pro to look at it and determine the right product to use. If you go too light of an abrasive, it won't work. If you go too heavy, then your problem is even worse than you started with.

The over the counter consumer crap is just that (crap) if you ask me.

if that's not the answer you want, then I would first wash, de-wax and dry the car, then clay the spot, then try a cleaner wax. if that didn't work, try a scratch remover, if that won't work, try a polishing compound, if that won't work, try a rubbing compound. If that won't work, then you need some fairly abrasive stuff that's not going to be sold in a typical auto parts store.

I think he can safely skip the cleaner wax step because the car has been key'd, not wiped with a dirty towel lol.
