Default Car covers (detailers chime in)

I wasn't sure where to post this, and this seems to be a fairly informative section so here goes.
I'm not going to be driving the SRT-4 through the winter and it's just going to be sitting in my carport (free of all falling objects, but not wind, etc.). What is the general disposition toward car covers from those of you who might consider yourselves detailing gurus? Are there certain types or brands that I should avoid, or should I just avoid using one altogether? I want to be able to use one without running the risk of clearcoat or paint damage.
Any info is appreciated!

http://www.covercraft.com/

I bought my covercraft cover from meguiars and it has their logo on the front which is nice. My dad uses them too for his sports cars and we never had a problem, just get the right one that matches your needs. They are a bit pricey, but well worth it.

If you don't buy a FITTED, high quality cover, it will do more damage ,than good.
Not only that, but over time, dust & grit eventually will get underneath it & grind away & your buttersoft clearcoat if you don't remove it once in a while & shake it out.

Just go to covercraft's website, you can narrow it down by vehicle and get the exact cover that matches the SRT-4 (I think it's a G3 size with two mirror pockets).

Oh, and just a testimonial to how well this cover works: We recently had a number of large storms in the midwest (I live in KY). I went out yesterday morning to survey the damage and my car was absolutely covered in sticks, branches and debris (a nearby tree had been blown over). I removed the cover and couldn't find a single scratch or dent ANYWHERE! The same storm did a number on my truck which was parked about 8 feet away without a cover...
