Default best way to detail car with cuda stripes or other vinyl???

I have flat black cuda stripes on the car and wanted to do a clay bar, polish and wax. Last time I waxed the car, i got some wax on the stripes and it didnt turn out that great. anyone have some tips on making detailing easier? My only though is to put tap across the stripes and go to town on the car.

i have flat black cuda stripes and i use the turtle wax ICE products ( because all there stuff is a clear liquid) , either the spray detailer/wax or the liquid polish, car shines better then new and the stripes stay perfect.

i usually just use the spray detailer to clean my car, i rarely use soap and water unless its gone a few weeks without being cleaned. i have the ICE polish but never used it on the srt4 yet, just the spray detailer. usually once a week ill wipe the car down with the stuff , its easy to apply and remove ( i can do my whole car in 15mins tops) and when its done it shines like i just waxed it and even the paint feels real smooth, if i set the bottle on top the roof it will just slide right off, lol. heres a pic after wiping it down with the detailer.

oh man. I feel like im looking at my car lol. except not lowered and on stock wheels. I have waxed over the stripes already and it left waxy swirl buildup on them (I listened to someone who told me it wold be fine to do that). think the detailer will clean that up? or should I use some kind of wax remover? I also wanna do claybar and a polish to remove the swirl marks. Im thinking put masking tape over the stripes next time and just go to town.

the detailer might clean it up, the ice polish should definitely take the marks out i would think. are you using a high speed polisher? and yeah i have the sirius player mounted on the air vent above the radio, pass air vent actually. the car kits sirius sells come with a clip designed to hold in the vents, sorta like a air freshner. havent had any problems with it.

you could use the window suction cup mount and screw the suction cup end under the radio bezel or something, that mount is flexible so im sure it can be adjusted to were it can still be seen fine. you can always double side tape it pretty much anywhere too.

I've been detailing mine for 2.5 years with the stripes on the car. Your best bet if you aren't used to working around them is to run two long pieces of masking tape down the side when you wax the car. Claybar will not harm them at all, but it also will not remove swirl marks. Claybar removes surface contaminants, not swirls. If you happen to get wax or polish on them, use a detailing spray to remove it or wax/tar/grease remover such as Dupont's Prep Sol solvent.

Mine with some CarBrite Poly Plus Sealant and SurLuster Carnuba:

thanks. I was hoping you would chime in. I was thinking of using the tape. only thing is that I cant get in the spaces between the stripes. I guess take the tape off then carefully do work once I finish the car. Right now my stripes look like crap. I completely waxed over them, after being told it would be fine to do. boy was he wrong. Now the stripes are riddled with white wax residue. So any spray detailer or wax remover is good. Or do you have some one you would recommend? BTW, hows the sills treating ya?

Very carefully with a foam applicator folded in two. That's how I get in between the stripes, anything excess I remove with the spray detailer or the W/T/G Remover. I use Dupont's Prep Sol for a W/T/G Remover and Mother's Showtime Instant detailer or Meguiar's NXT for spray wax. I just bought the Eagle one spray detailer just to try it and I HATE the smell of it.

Sills are treating me good but they are a MAJOR pia to clean. The "S" and the "R"'s corners keep lifting up. Makes me angry lol.

Thanks. Ill have to give it a shot over the weekend.

lol yeah for such a large piece of polished metal, its gonna be a bitch. Thats half the reason I painted mine black. And to be honest the black looks wayyy better on an orange car than the polished. And not to mention cleaning is no biggy, just a quick wipe with a moist microfiber and your good. You might like it too if you painted em black.

And I found a trick for the popping up letters. I had the same problem. You have to take them off and gently bend the letters down. but not too much so you see a bend line. That way, when you lay them down the letters are pushing against the car. Plus, it makes a big difference how you apply the spray glue. If you spray the glue on and let it tack up for a minuet, the glue works a lot better. Some glues dont work well when they are wet.
