Default Ride is bouncy after spring install...

I recently installed some goldline springs on my stock 04 struts. The drop is pretty much exactly how I wanted it which is great. The only problem is the ride is unbearably bouncy. Is there anyways to fix the bounce from aftermarket springs? Does anyone else have this issue?

Stock shocks dont usually last long on lowered springs.

Did you cut your bump stops int he front? I cut mine to get a little more travel.

The ride was terrible on those springs with stock shocks so I went coilovers.

^^^ Yep. Most people don't realize, but the shock and the spring are partners in controlling suspension. The spring (seriously) absorbs the shock [aka sharp motion, not the mechanical "shock" also known as a damper]. The shock [device] is used to dampen the spring. If the spring rate is too high relative to the shock/damper, then you get this decaying sinusoidal motion that slowly converges to the spring's natural height. On the same hand, if the damper/shock is valved to stiff for the spring, you will get a harsh ride that does not use the full travel of the spring.

When shocks go bad, they usually leak or blow out, in which case a substantial part of the device (pressurized gas or semi-vicous oil) leaks out, therefore substantially changing the valving. Essentially, the shock becomes weaker, and that's why the old-fashioned way to test is to bounce the corners of the car and see how many cycles it takes before the corner settles down.

I had eibach pro-kits with (what I think were) blown struts. The bouncing was horrible, and it bottomed out all the time because of the virtually nonexistent damping. On a different vehicle, a 2003 350z, I had completely stock suspension. I little known fact about the 350z is that Nissan messed up the valving of the shocks and had a quiet little mid-year fix in 2004. Ironically I found myself replacing the stock suspension with tokico d-spec adjustable racing shocks in order to get a smoother ride...Basically, Nissan under-damped the stock springs.

The SRT-4 is a little more difficult from what I've read. There are very few options, and the ACR package will not fit stock wheels/tires. Like the above person said, coilovers are pretty much the only way to deal with the srt-4 geometry. FWIW, I actually ended up selling my pro-kits, and went with a stock setup. (I've got herniated discs L5 & L6 so I can't handle a rough ride)

I have eibach sportlines, gud look and stance. However, bad ride; I eventually got used to it of course. SO far 2 and a half years of survival. Getting bouncier every now and then. Hopefully I can find a good set of coils.

alright sounds good to me i guess i will man up and deal with it. I figured since the spring rates on the goldlines are almost identical and I mean the fronts are the same as stock and rears about 10 harder they wouldnt be as bad. I guess I will deal with it till coilovers.
