Default Qualtiy Question

I am grabbing some coilovers in the next 6 months, so i was wonder about the quality of the company on a few. maybe someone could shed some personal light.

(let it be noted that i am using my srt for only a daily driver, and the occasional canyon run, and it is never going to see a track)

the coils i am looking at are as followed in order of desire

1. K Sport ( only because they are anodized orange and i have and O.B. and also in the $900 range )

2. Tein Basic ( because they are only in the $900 range and tein is a "name brand" )

3. Megan's ( because they are less than the other two and my girlfriends name is Megan

as for the others such as BC - KW/Mopar - and any other expensive one.

lets just say i would rather like to stay away from those ones because i have a $1300 cap

and i plan on getting sway bars and strut bars along with the coilivers

any and all help is VERY appreciated

Basically, I would guesstimate that all the coilovers mentioned are pretty much knock offs of one another. I hear K-Sports are really nice from some RX8 drivers. Megans and BC I think are running the same cartridges (shocks). blah blah blah..anyways....

I am currently running BC coilovers (standard with rear camber plates) and I absolutly love em. also, Modern Performance has a sale on BC coilovers standard with front and rear camber plates for just above $1000.

Get Hotchkis sway bars and I honestly think that the P-werks front and rear strut braces are the best bang for the buck combination.

That should be about just above $1500 but you get the best products into your vehicle.

Also, the coilovers really depend on what kind of driving you plan to do (drag, autox, or track) that determines your spring rates and overall drivability.

No. Don't EVER buy extremely necessary parts because of how they look. Yet, I heard rumors that K-Sports were pretty good (for RX8s) and a few SRTs out there. Only thing is that they run a 7k/4k (front/rear spring rates) spring rates which might be too much understeer. If you get BC coilovers, you can tell them which spring rates you want and they will revalve the shocks for it. The standard BCs come 6k/4k. If you plan to autocross or track the car, I would recommend 8k/6k (more understeer) or even 8k/10k (more oversteer). Don't forget that spring rates depends also on sway bars as well.

Other than that long and boring essay, it's your car and you can build it up how you want to. K-sports on an Orange Blast SRT4 would look cool. If you really want to have K-sports but are concerned about the springs and the excessive understeer, call 'em up.

okay cool, but i never am going to use my car for track or autocross use. so what you stated above really doesn't concern me that much, but thank you for the input i am definitely putting it into consideration.

I however do go to the canyon roads sometimes.

I just sold my megans that I had picked up used here on the forum. They were great. The ride wasnt too harsh considering they are coilovers. The build quality was great too. I had absolutely no issues with them even after a winter of driving them in New England.
