Question ACR Lowering Woes

So im trying to remove the springs from my ACR struts, The how-to sticky says to use a 10 mm 1/4" socket and extension inside of a 13/16" spark plug remover. well.... the top nut on the shaft itself where the adjusting knob is cannot fit a 10 mm.

Its flat on 2 sides and curved on the other two. ive tried several metric and standard sockets to get it to grip... but to no avail. how the heck am i supposed to get the inside nut to loosen when the shaft keeps spinning?

yeah, the illumina struts won't let you do the two socket setup. Use a strap wrench or locking pliers with a piece of hose wrapped around the shaft to protect it, then use an impact gun to zap the top nut off.
