You can advertise your car site all you wish, as you are not making money directly off it. However, if everyone was allowed to have a signature image/text/link to a vendor, what incentive is there for a vendor to give back to the community.
Sorry, I dont really care how you approach it or sugar coat it, its advertising for Howell. My points above remain. If you feel the need to leave the site over your signature image, then that is certainly your decision to make.

I understand the reason for the new rules, but I worry about the impact. One of the things I like best about this board is the direct access I've had to vendors. I wouldn't have even known about half of them if they hadn't of posted here. And if they just decide not to support the site, I'll have to find another way to reach them.

This is certainly a downside, however, I think the benefits to our members far outweigh the negatives.
For example, only well known vendors will get most of the word of mouth. This serves to keep members protected from potential fly by night companies only out to rip people off. I see this very often with group buys.
Also, there is nothing stopping someone from mentioning a product, however, a full blown advertisement etc is out of the question. You will still know about new products, etc. trust me. However, vendors who dont support the site wont be able to pimp their wares.
So let me get this straight. You pump Mopar who hasn't given a penny????? Yet (like they will) But Howell Automotive, Modern Performance, AGP, ATP, Turbo XS are no longer welcome to tell us of thier lasteset and greatest????
Hector this is not a shot at you in anyway so please don't take it like that. Please tell me he is a paid advertiser as his sig and links to his products and website are are everywhere and being discussed this AM???
I'm not looking to start a fight only want a few straight facts??? Alot of the vendors your asking not to post or push product are alot more supportive (especially a Hector or Ben at AGP) than DCX or Mopar.
I love the site and want to see it grow but I hope this place doesn't become the Focaljet.
Mopar will be donating items for the owners club. At this point, it looks like Howell will be doing the same. I am also in contact with Hector from ED as far as sponsorship.
Basicly, there are still advertisers who may not have seen the new rules, and have not approached me. I will get to them one by one as time permits. The people who know about the rules (ie, they have approached me) and have decided NOT to sponsor the forums will need to remove their information.
Eventually, it will happen to everyone as I get to them if they choose not to sponsor.
Also, your information is wrong. Only two vendors were asked not to post, and you didnt name either one.

I'm just wondering how this applies to the buy/sell forum...
Items bought and sold by persons will not be affected by the rules whatsoever.
If I see a person buying and selling an inordinate amount of items (ie. they are running a business, regardless of wether its on the side, or out of their house, or whatever) will be asked to sponsor the site.
How much would you charge me to sell items on the site?
Does selling say, 5 items a week of the same on the for sale forum count as a being a vendor.

I will send you a PM with the pricing information. Our "Primary" spots are pretty much all sold out... So, we are going to change the pricing and have "Secondary" vendors.
To answer your question, yes, selling 5 items a week would put you into the vendor category.

I pressumed since I dont make my living off of selling parts here or on any other forums it wouldnt matter.
No offense or anything, but it seems that your fee is targeted to dealers that actually *only* deal on this site and others.
Youd basicly be asking for 50% of what I would bring in here in a month.
Doesnt exactly seem fare to people that just have small inexspensive items for sale, or that dont actually make a living selling parts.
Got something else?
Anybody that makes profit off of this site is subject to these rules. It doesnt necessarily have to be a living. Your definition of a living could be $500k a year, while mine could be $20k a year.
Depending on what you need to do, we are flexible. If you dont need to sponsor a section, have your own section and simply wish to sell very few parts a month, we can perhaps work something out. It really depends on the items, how many, if they are in direct competition with our supporting vendors, etc.
Why dont you fill me in on some of the details in a PM and I'll see if we can accomodate you.
