That may be true around your way but I used to sell cars and what I've heard is that they are not selling at all in most areas !! It maybe that in YOUR area people may be buying them up but the fact is that the GTO is a powerful car which looks no better than anyother pontiac out there !!! Great idea but VERY bad move on the body choice , very bad !!! And theres nothing anyone can say or do about it to make things right !! You can have a 2000hp 15 liter GTO but if it still looks like that theres no hope , just look at it !!!

poor guy, picking on something thats better than he has, us humans up here call that jealousy, or u work at burger king and spent all your money on your neon, i mean srt-4. Do u even understand what u have theres nothing special about the way your car looks at all, The only way its so popular is because its affordable and tunable for the next generation. So lay off making fun of cars that stand beyond yours, think about what your sayin, Your starting to sound like those Europeans when they were dogging on the new vette. And what did they bring to the table, pretty much nothing. But later they ate there words, when it stomped on everything in that price range and power range............Don't cry about what i say, Cause i am a huge srt-4, But picking on Good cars is Gay.

Its not the trannys torque rating its the clutches rating. Kind of like the evo's with there break away clutch. It was a way for dodge to save the drive train by making the weak link the clutch. And just for all of you to know I will have one soon and will be tearing it down and getting stiffer springs to install as well as new clutch material for the weak clutches on the new srt-4.

Engine seems pretty stout. Aluminum Block with iron cylinder liners, Forged Internals????? Wow!!!! Wonder what the compression ratio will be? Too bad this sweet engine will power a pig. 300 hp...just to be as fast as a S0 1st gen SRT-4. Staged upgrades would be cool, but unlikely especailly since the SRT will be FWD. Hella Traction issues with a 375hp FWD Turbo 4.

so far...it looks ok on Paper......i didnt realize they incorporated so many nannies/safety features into this new one. DCX finally got smart....parts bin some of the items used and it will allow them to save on the performance variants. Later down the line they should option the LX's SRT brembo brakes on the Caliber SRT4...imagine the stopping power

It depends on how much mitsu is in this car. History says that previous Mitsu based chrysler cars used mitsu 5x114.3 bolt patters.

I have a Plymouth Horizon, and I still am able to say that the Dodge Caliber is fugly.

i find it a little funny how everyone is hating on this car. some of you are starting to sound like those other forums when our cars first came out. as far as reliability we wont know untill they get here. but if that 6 speed is good im goin to try and fit it in my car. anyone know if the vvt can be put on our engines???

I thought they were cancelling the GTO.

I understand what you are saying about how other people on other forums reacted to the original SRT-4 when it came out. They are entitled to their opinions as are we. The Vibe and Matrix have been available for several years now and none of us have purchased them... so why would we like this one?

I don't see the need for the 6 speed in our cars. The torque band is wide enough that tighter ratios are not rquired. Without knowing exactly what ratios are in the 6 speed, i would fear that you would end up rowing the gears like a madman like the EVO drivers must do. No thanks. I am weary of CVT's until the technology is perfected, or at least improved. No current production CVT trans is particularly known for it's durability. Of course... thats all asuming that they will bolt to an earlier 2.4.

I wonder if the release of the new SRT-4 will push our cars into instant semi-classic status... similar to what happened when the 2 seater thunderbird was replaced with a bigger, ugly behemoth, or what happened to the GN when the Regal was replaced by a FWD platform.

Perhaps the '03-05 SRT-4's will be remembered as the best SRT-4's... at least until something better than the Caliber wears the badge.
