Completed. I am going to have to agree with RTShadow 100% Chrysler makes nothing right now that I would both want and could afford. They NEED to build a new gen Neon. There is no debate on that. Everytime I told people in 2006 that the Caliber replaced the Neon I got the same WTF reaction. Believe it or not most people actually would have kept buying the "old" Neon rather than entertain the thought of the Caliber. This is typical Chrysler however. They make a run where they build it just about exactly the way we want then they go on hiatus for 20+ years. Ask the guys from the 60-70s.
Well, I put my 2 cents in and filled it out. I agree with most of everything that everyone else is saying except for the autostick. I have taken both of my PT GT's out to both drags and road course track day events. Drag racing produces more consistent times with a auto trans, so while the manual trans is fun, the auto is really the better choice...when it is a good auto trans! my experience at track days on the road courses had me wanting the autostick to perform even better than it did. Downshift responses were a bitch, but the upshifts were awesome and I could focus on just driving my line and learning. Then I thought that a 5 speed would be better suited...and not grenade, which the grenade part has been true..butm the 5 speed is not really better and does distract your driving.
So, my unpopular vote is to bring an autostick/paddleshift, but one where the trans holds up to the abuse and works. It is different, but driving the track is the most fun.
Completed. When I realized the first half of the survey was all about paddle shifters But oh well, if they can make one that is truly functional and durable that may change my mind over going with the manual transmission.

I didn't see anything about awd, and considering most srt4 owners move on to evo/sti I think dodge should at some point make an awd monster in the 29-32k range. if it were done properly they would sell tons.
The problem is it wouldnt be done properly. I cannot remember one performance AWD vehicle in the history of Chrysler. I would like to eventually get an STi but I would never have second guessed getting the SRT4. The market is definately there for TC FWD performance vehicles. Chrysler nailed it with the NSRT4 but felt they needed to reinvent the wheel. How did that work out??

The AWD just isn't going to happen, for the simple fact that the FWD formula works for Dodge, quite obviously. A new model SRT4 based on a nice looking small sedan is going to likely cost in the area of 23,000 to 24,000. You can about guess that adding AWD to the car is going to bump the price another 5 to 6 grand. I don't know if enough people are willing to spend 30,000 on a Dodge AWD tuner type car to make it profitable for them. I suppose if they found some way to include AWD as part of the base package (like the R/T Caliber) and then have a beefier version for the performance model, but still, I highly doubt it.
As far as the "reinventing the wheel", you can thank Daimler for that bit of bull****. The SRT group was stuck creating a performance car out of a less than desireable starting point, that being the Caliber. Why do you think the CSRT4 was like 18 months late? They had a lot of difficulty even bringing that car to the table.
To answer a couple of comments on this thread, the idea of bringing back the "Neon" nameplate is out of the question, simply because, although there are a hard core bunch of enthusiests who love the Neon and everything that went with the car, a lot of whom are on srtforums, there are 10 times that number who continue to bash the "Neon" based on problems the first gen had. Those are the idiots who say things like "head gasket problems, peeling paint, doors don't close properly, windows rattle" etc, as though you can't improve the model. It's time to move beyond that.
For that reason a better idea would be to bring back an old school name like the Duster or Dart or come up with something entirely new.

I love this idea as I was the proud owner of a Dart once upon a time. I dont think I have ever heard anyone bash Chrysler A-Bodies. If anything people talk about how bulletproof they were. You may be onto something.
