Default SRT Boss Wants Performance Diesels

Quote:
Diesel is quickly becoming a new option for car makers looking to have powerful, yet fuel friendly engines. Mercedes and BMWs AMG and M, in house tuning divisions have announced future diesel vehicles catered for performance driving, and it looks like the SRT brand will be offering its own in the future.

This comes from a tweet this morning from SRT CEO, Ralph Gilles, who responded to a fans inquiry of a possible SRT vehicle to compete against the performance oriented diesels offered in Europe.

Gilles responded by saying, I am a fan, We would cut our teeth in Europe first which likely means that a SRT diesel will first debut for the European market.

SRT offers performance tuned vehicles based on Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge products, so itll be interesting to see what vehicle they decide to outfit with a diesel engine. There is already a diesel Grand Cherokee available in international markets, so tuning it for more performance (like the gas powered Grand Cherokee SRT8 available here) is a likely possibility.

Weve reached out to SRT to see if there are an official word on upcoming diesel SRT vehicles.

Yup they'll need to have one to be competative.... and on the plus side one block is enough to put in the Dart, 300, and the Cherokee.
But make sure it makes atleast 300hp and then de-tune it a little for the Dart

Let them be realistic and don't try to make a 450hp diesel that no-one will buy.....

Diesels aren't all that. But a good option for some people who do a lot of highway miles Powerbands just are not like they are in a gasoline.

if they'd put a diesel and 6spd manual option for my liberty I would have bought it in a heartbeat.

The world needs a performance diesel. I was heartbroken when I heard they shelved the Audi r8 with the lemans derived v12 diesel.

Comon dodge, be the first to do it, keep going with the "motor first " philosophy, it's worked well in the past

Cummins viper ?

It won't be a cummins. The last I heard cummins and Dodge are separating ways in 2016, Ford is going to be running cummins
