what the hell are you guys (admins) doing to the site. why keep messing with things when theres nothing wrong. I can see changing some things but now you guys screwed up reginal forums and vendors forums. I've been coming here a long time and the past year and a half seen it get turned upside down and see no improvment to viewing the forum.

I usually click my name and search my previous posts and thats been screwed up for 2 weeks now. Like I always said "don't fix it if it ain't broke" if you want to make it LOOK better then do it, but don't degrade the forum to a half assed website that has lots of loop holes.

another thing is that we have a section called Site Rules/Updates/Discussion but it seems nobody can even make threads in this area to talk about specific problems with the site. Here I have to post in the search problem thread. I feel it was more appropriate then performance mods area. Do you guys not care whats going on to the site do you not care what we the customers of the site think of the site. or does it look good from 1 guys computer and thats all that matters?

if you don't know don't complain
don't automatically assume that the mighty admins have to do with anything "technical" about the site.

autforums acquired the forums, and they are the ones taking care of the issues. Unfortunately the acquisition left the current admins unable to do any sort of maintenance and our beloved search function has yet to be re-indexed since the move 2 weeks ago. Something i have been trying to get them to do.

The vendor section and regional section were cut down , as there is essentially to save space. and to easily scan for your section. plus to cut down on the added load put by the enormous list of vendors.

We can't please everyone, and unfortunately my fellow admins and myself can't make this place a utopia for everyone, we do what we can with what tools we are given to work here.

and kbizzle i am not even going to comment on that, all of us admins don't get paid a dime from autoforums.

We do it because we like to run this place simple as that , if you want to complain about the business side of things, contact autoforums. The admins ( guys in red other than Administrator) have no control of the business.

you should read it again, i said money>srtforums, not money>admins. I understand the workings of a site, and it sucks that autoforums hasn't fixed things yet. I know that you guys obviously don't write scripts, and fix search indexes... that doesn't change the fact that this forum was sold to autoforums and has since gone downhill. hopefully it will work its way back to what it used to be.

like i said we will work with what the tools we are given.

If this means that we will he to re-orgnanize the site and change the ways this forum is ran, the rest of the admin and myself will do whatver is possible to re-align the forum to what it was before. A source of information and a place to hang out and talk about other things.

This forum was unmanaged for a little bit to long , and being honest i dont' want it to go away. I
made countless friends here and I don't want the place which i gotten so much from go down the drain.

Maybe I sound to political , but its the truth.

Default Working on it

We have been working on the problem and may have some things fixed. The following is part of an email sent to me:

"1. The search index should be updated every minute now with the latest
posts.
2. Once per day the search index will be emptied and rebuilt as a
recommended maintenance. This will take place between 4:30am-4:35am EST
every day. The site will remain open, it doesn't degrade performance at
all. The only negative will be about five minutes per day where search
results will not be accessible.

I've been testing this every few minutes the past hour. The latest posts are
showing up in the index using both "Find all posts by " and normal
search mechanisms."

So you know where we are at. I'm working on the smileys too.
