See how worthless it makes the search feature when almost every automotive acronym is a 3 letter word?

very frustrating, could 3 letter searches at least be enabled in How To and For Sale?

Vendors with 3 letter abbreviations should start complaining that nobody can search for their company or find threads started by them.

Adding 3 letter words to the search index increases the size of the index exponentially. This can not be enabled per forum. Would you guys rather have this or a slower site?

Use google:

site:srtforums.com "don't be gay" - Google Search

Bigger forums with the same forum engine can do it. I don't see why this one can't.

Cause it's a pain in the ass to rebuild a search index with 5 million posts. The default mysql search is set to 4 characters. That would also have to be manually changed. There's a couple other internal factors that come into play as well.

I'm sure they could do it, but I'm just saying the overheard is far greater when a search index starts to gets that large. It gets slow, big, and shitty.

From what I understand, it was already setup to 3 at one point...
