Short Keywords The words (agp, wga) are shorter than the minimum word length (4) and were removed from your search.

I tried searching for "agp wga" including the quotes and it gave me that. It's a 7 character phrase, not two 3 character words and a space. Probably nothing you can but I'm sure you recognize that in the car world there are a million and one 3 letter acronyms that we can't search for :P

Quotes don't effect the search engine built into the forum. For 3 letter words it's best to use Google's Advanced search.

Google > Advanced Search > enter your search criteria in "with the exact phrase" > in the Domain field enter srtforums.com/forums

Viola.

examples why your equation is off....you want to research acr in the wheel and tire threads only, or you just want to research agp's section for their wga, etc, on and on....you shouldn't have to sift through every forum thread like with the google search...

You know you can just use the URL for the specific sub forum in Google, right?

If you wanted to search for just ACR in the Wheel/Tire section you would just use the term "ACR" in the URL srtforums.com/forums/f136/.

Dur.

say you want to search for-sale threads created within the last 30 days for a S3 wga, aem ems, and acr struts, and you need new winter tires for your acr so you want to pull up all posts containing "acr" in the winter wheel/tire sticky...you're on dialup and seconds take minutes, pulling threads to copy and paste their url takes EXTRA time....and I just noticed I used the word equation wrong, now that's a dur

your way is extra work...The easiest way would be using this site...

You have to draw the line somewhere when configuring the search engine within a forum. The load on the servers goes up exponentially as the search term gets smaller. This gets even worse when you have a community the size of this one. That's the nature of the beast dude. 3 letter word searches in a forum search utility murders it.

Besides, Google is far more powerful if you actually think about it. Take an ACR search in the Wheel and Tire section. What is it specifically that you are searching for? Probably offset or width. Think of related words that relate directly to ACR and use the Exact Phrase search instead of Search All Words.

There's some give and take.

I and others have been stating a case for it, we understand how it works, thanks.. and I've seen other forums that allow 2.

based off this idea...why not eliminate site search altogether and google everything then....I know what you're saying tho

There's some give and take.

I'm being objective as well with my comments. It will be what admin wants it to be, understood and check.

Is there anyway the search function could be changed so that it does bring up results from people's signature? I did a search for "Mopar Springs" and ever douchebag that has a detailed list of modifications in their signature trips comes up as a record.

Suggestion: Enable similar threads. I know it's a couple more queries per thread, but it could cut down on searches and it is very very useful in some cases.

Also, put an adsense search in the dropdown for the search above and in search.php (see cell phone forums below) This will also cut back on searches and generate a bit of income.
