Default Search..... should be fixed.

As some of you have noticed the Search function has been pretty broken as of late. It should now be fixed. Search is still a significant load on the database server so please do not "abuse" it.

Yah, suprisingly it gets used alot... but its probably the single most harsh thing that can be done to a database server that has to search 4.2 million posts every time its done

i think you should but a comfirm yes or no when you type in what ur searching for. nothing worse then typing "what size tre for..." then hitting search to fast before you can catch it then have to wait a minute to reuse it again.

I was beginning to think my search skills just sucked...wouldn't get any results for the words I was typing in the box....but now I do.

Have you thought about having archiving? Like only having the last year worth of posts searched... then someone can choose to search older posts if what they are looking for isn't found?

at thinking that search is the only problem with this site. Glad it's fixed but I wouldn't blame problems with the servers on the search feature.

Is the overloading the reason that was for the waiting 60 seconds between searches?

Well he did that when this "post whoring" competition was supposably going on, which I can understand.

I just was curious to the reasoning behind the 60 seconds between searches. It doesn't make much sense to me.

And a little off topic, but what was the final explanation for this?

Is 693 users really causing that much traffic?

It's all the guests man...at one time I saw something to this effect:

Currently Active Users: 1000 (300 members and 700 guests)- that's killing us IMO
