2013 SRT Viper Production Begins
The new 2013 Viper from SRT marks the return of the snake after a two-year hiatus, and the very first production Viper rolled off the assembly line on December 5, 2013 at the brandís Conner Avenue Assembly Plant.
The 400,000 square-foot facility was idled back in 2010 and has spent the last year being re-tooled and upgraded to accommodate the 2013 Viper production line. The first Viper that rolled off the line, with VIN#001, was presented to owner Scott Thomas who purchased the car at a Barrett-Jackson auction for $300,000 last June.
Also announced at the ceremony celebrating the Viper was the dedication of the final line to Dan Knott, former Chrysler group senior vice president, who died in 2012. A special plaque has been placed in the facility commemorating Knott.
The Viper comes with a mid-front 8.4-liter V-10 engine that delivers 640 horsepower and 600 lb.-ft. of torque, and retails for $97,395.
