R/T seems sweet, and getting the track pack for $995 is awesome, going to be a great car for 32k.. Srt-8 is just too expensive for what you get. i think i know what my next car will be
Big Heavy sled that will come in third place against any Mustang gt and up or any Camaro z28 coming out. Gas mileage is worse then the Camaro is rated. Dodge always has a good idea hampered by a dumb decision. Nice looking car though. I always liked this body style.
do we know what the gas mileage is on the Camaro w/ similar engine? How do we know it's going to come in behind these other cars? It is already faster and handles better than a similarly priced Mustang (SRT vs Bullitt). It also has more interior room and a usable back seat.
Camaro with LS3 6.1 liter 430 hp, 424 tq. 0-60 4.3 secs...
Gas mileage 16/26 6 speed manual..couldn't find auto. gas mileage..
srt-8 cost about $41,000 with des. charge added in...
r/t with less hp and tq. gets a rating of 15/23 gas mileage, srt-8 will be worse,
Camaro, like i said gets better gas mileage then the r/t and it sure will get better then the srt-8, rated at 13/18 gas mileage with less hp and tq.
And the Camaro cost less..
Just found this link, cool article, nice read Camaro versus Challenger!
my next door neighbor bought an SRT-8 on friday. it is jet black and looks heavy with very nice curves. the tires on the back look very fat but i did not take a close look yet. it sounds bad ass though, but for $30,000 and only 425hp and 420lbs or torque, he can keep it. i can not wait to see if my little neon will beat his expensive race car in a race. j/k
i just talked with him and it is a 2008 not the 09 which i thought.

Tell ya what, lets cross the Camaro bridge when we get there Wait, MoparCity, did you say 30K? I assume thats a used Charger? Becuase certainly no Challenger is for sale at 8K-10K below sticker already.
Now, you say "only 425hp and 420"? Please to list the vehicles under 50K that come with over 400hp. The list is very short.

So what's the price on the 'Drag Pack' option they keep showing on TV? And why in the world does the R/T get variable cam timing while the 'top of the line' SRT8 does not? The 6.1L has been out for 3 yrs now, how about a major HP increase? Does Mopar think that 425 HP (closer to 350 at the wheels, see LX forums NW section 7-12-08 dyno day at PRE where I dynoed the skittle and blew away all the SRT8s by 20 hp and most by 35!) is going to be competitive forever? Shelby Mustang 500KR just got bumped up to 540 hp! Dodge this is a wake up call, get with the program!

[reply to srt 4 moster] You are right, I was not there, I've never been anywhere that black is white, up is down, left is right and cars with less horsepower run 6 MPH faster and .94 sec. quicker....is it a vortex?

Wow, it is funny how all the so called "experts" are already throwing the challenger to the curb, against a car that has not even come out yet, the camaro.
For me, when I get back from overseas, I am going to get the r/t track pack, 6 speed thank you.

did you read the little thing on the bottom right? It's a "body in white" style car for low-mid 30s. very much lightened, 5.7, 6.1, or 5.9 wedge. auto or manual.
