Default Help with Vari-Cool HOM kit

Everything seems to be working like it should. However, not even appearing to be close on holding HOM with it. Varicool settings are:

Low Boost: 2psi
Full Boost: 11 psi
Tune: 10

I'm using the TPS input signal and the nozzles are spraying because I can see my charge temps drop from 100 degree area (yes its that hot here) to 70's on the scangauge. I'm running Stage 3 w/AGP WG at about a 23 spike, 19 hold. With HOM OFF, I'm getting around 1.5 KR and the methanol/water injecting, while my wideband reads 10.0 during boost. Currently, my mixture is around 60/40. With HOM ON, forget it. With the w/i turned off I get the same KR of 1.5, only a higher intake charge. Am I doing something wrong? Plugs are one step colder Denso Iridiums gapped at .034". My nozzles are at the cold side pipe about 2" prior to the IAT sensor and the other one is on the FMIC cold side tank.

Looking to get some ideas on what to check. Thanks!

The first thing is to make sure the nozzles are both spraying well. Using only water in the tank, remove the nozzles from the pipe but leave in the line. run the system and look at the spray. Make sure both are good.

Next step would to be try 75% meth.

Let me know the results.

Sorry to hear you could not get it to hold last night. I think you are going to have a little more difficult time getting it to hold, since you are using the piss water 91 octane gas. I agree with David about adding more meth to the equation. Change the amount and go out for a pull without HOM on and see if you KR goes down from 1.5. If it does things are getting better. It should almost bog and seem like it is less powerful. If it gets higher then report back. If all knock disappeared then attempt a pull in HOM. If you see knock get off the gas. Do not trust that it is going to kick you out before something bad can happen. Do your pulls in 4th gear, since you are going to see more load in this gear.

Other suggestions
1. I would lower your gap down to .31 on the plugs. I was seeing knock with a .35 gap before I changed it.
2. Make sure you are boost leak free.
3. Reset the PCM and let it relearn with meth being injected. Seemed to help when I was tuning the car. I am only guessing that the PCM was making changes to fuel enrichment and timing as a result of my earlier failed attempts to hold HOM.

I have one nozzle in my IC and one 2-3" from the TB on my stock soft pipes. There is a way to install the nozzle on the Stock pipe. I have mine on it and it does not leak. Good luck on getting your kits tuned. It is a lot cheaper than running race gas. I have not been kicked out of HOM for a good month now after learning the settings for cold and hot temps. Plus I am running 26-27psi spike and 23-24 at redline. I see 0 KR, my timing is in the 34-36 degree range up top, EGT's are in the 1500 range, and A/F sits around 11.6 and slowly reaches 10 at redline. For those of you who are planning on pulling fuel and running an alky kit with HOM, just keep a close eye on your EGT's.

Maybe you need to adjust your start/full points.

Just a suggestion. Work is slow today
