Well after 6 months of dust collection I've finally got the kit completely installed, and it is exactly what i was hoping it would be. This is a Coolingmist Direct Port W/I, Vari-Cool Controller, Trunk Tank w/Stainless upgrade. Damn thats a mouthful. After spending a good deal of time trying to come up with an installation plan we decided to do it a little custom, when I say we i mean Frank @ XtremeBoost
. First off I don't want to give the impression that anything that came supplied with the kit was inferior in any way, everything seemed to be of very high quality and construction we just added our own twist. Without further ado here's a pic.........
The kit came supplied with a distribution block consisting of several brass fittings screwed together. The piece itself is not very appealing to the eyes and there was really no clear cut place to mount it so Frank decided to use a piece of billet fuel rail stock as a distribution manifold along with a nice bracket to mount it to the ignition coil......
I'm not sure if the kit was intended to have the stainless lines running from the distribution to the injectors but i felt it was necessary to do so from an appearance standpoint. Included in the kit were some "plastic" hoses and brass fittings, we opted to go with the fittings you see from purely a bling standpoint.
The next challenge was deciding how and where the injectors were going to be mounted. We were determined to get the injector lined up evenly across the runners of the intake manifold for proper distribution, unfortunately with the way that our upper radiator hose runs off the thermostat housing and the location of the MAP sensor we didn't have many options. I did consider mounting them on the underside of the IM but that wasn't an idea i was happy about. The decision was made to make a hard upper rad pipe with a different angle coming off the neck of the housing, but it still wouldn't have made enough room to get them even so Frank took the thermostat housing of and cut the neck clear off turned it a little clockwise and welded it back together. This created enough room to get the injectors straight across above the Map sensor and wires.

I know it's not easy to make out the injectors, the problem is that when i sent the IM and injectors to be coated i wanted the IM black and injectors powder chrome but he did everything black so the kinda blend in but you get the idea. Frank is still going to be making the upper hard rad pipe and that will get coated black along with the thermostat housing, and redoing the injectors so they standout from the manifold.
I decided to mount the controller in the glove compartment for the time being I may decide to change that down the line but i wanted it out of the way and no wires showing.

And lastly the tank..........
The tank and pump combo design is nice and all but there really is no way/where to mount it out of the way so there it is. This may get changed down the road also.
Over all between the kit, installation, coating and custom stuff I've got about $1,000+ into this system. I know, i know a little excessive but I have this disease that doesn't allow me to go half way, I always find myself doing a little extra. And once i get the new turbo and all the other goodies if figure this could save me several thousand $ on a potential engine rebuild (until i decide to do it anyway
)
I played around with the system some last night and with straight water i felt a distinct difference in the way the car reacted when going WOT. I don't want to sound like a retard describing the way my car sounded/felt so I'll just leave it at "the power came on much more linear". I didn't expect this to make to much of a performance difference now, like i said it is more in anticipation of the big turbo and etc..
Like i said I don't want anyone to think the changes that were made are because this kit is inferior in anyway.
