This car is still one of my dreamcars..
I know I'm digging up an old thread here, but I just saw it and had to comment on it.
Yeah those fender flares don't look right... I have seen much nicer looking fender flares on Z's than that... I'm not a big fan of the huge cowl on the hood either... there's a much nicer looking smaller cowl hood for the older Z's available. It's still a nice car though, very clean, and I love the color.
Here's my '77 Datsun 280Z I just picked up a couple weeks ago... my new project:
Not the best looking right now, but I've got big plans for it. So these are one of your dream car's eh Nemo? Hmm... you work on SRT-4's, and you've done work on these older Z's... Part of my plans for this car involve swapping an SRT-4 engine into it. SRT-4 engine + RWD Transmission + very light weight 280Z =
If you want to sponsor the project, I'll rent a trailer and drag the car all the way down from my garage in MT to your shop in FL for you to build it.

I don't think you can afford my dreams.. ( Leno couldn't) But I'll gladly make yours come true.. For a fee..
on the blue car those fenders, skirts and rear valance are all hand made steel.. And were built about 9 years ago.. In person the car is awesome.
But I can put an srt-4 motor in yours or a sr20 or ka24det or rb25det whatever you like..

I can't even afford my own dreams for this car at the moment. I spent all my money making my dreams come true for my '04 Sebring Sedan. Hand made steel eh? Wow... I was thinking it was custom fiberglass work... that is impressive. I can see this Z costing me $20k+ over several years before I'm done with it.
I'll probably have changed my mind on which motor to put in it several times over and back again before I get the money together to actually do it. I've already contemplated SRT-4, Hemi, RB26DETT, Banks Twin Turbo Small Block Chevy... etc. etc. I like the SRT-4 engine idea the best so far, 'cause I haven't seen it done yet... everybody and their brother has done SR's, KA's, RB's, SBC's... a few have done the older Hemi's (haven't seen a newer one yet though). Also I think the SRT-4 would be one of the lighter choices for an engine out of all those.
This Z pictures make me wanna spend more money on mine than my srt-4
I currently also own a 1973 240z. And am in the process of doing the RB25det swap. Its alot more work than I anticipated, but going quite well.
The car is in 100 million peices, I just hope I remember how to put it back together.
Finding parts for the RB25 is a royal pain in the ass (ordered an N1 oil and water pump well over 6 monthes ago from Nissan Japan... still no pumps and now on backorder) . If I were to do it again, I may have gone with an SR20, but the SR is no RB no matter how much money you put in it.
