Here is the problem:
That shiny metal part used to be part of the clutch master cylinder.
Here is the fix. The block incapsulates the rod to strenghen it.
It is more durable than the stock piece. But the most important thing is that it prevents breakage of the pushrod for the clutch master cylinder. You can see part of a broken one in the top pic. Also it replaces the stock pivot bushing which it is common to break. Thats the small bushing in the end with the four small points on it of the stock unit. So this product improves the stock unit in two areas. It also allows for use of a stiffer pressure plate without the fear of breaking anything in the clutch pedal/pushrod assembly.
NEMO IS MY HERO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! cant swing it til payday, but you will be getting a call as soon as the check clears! i cant wait to get this puppy. thanks for fixing this problem, now i wont be in constant fear of getting stuck in the middle of the freeway in traffic any more!

its even better because i need to adjust my clutch pedal postion. however, the frickin dealer that replaced my tranny not only didnt adjust the pedal position properly, but they also installed the piece as to where i cant get a wrench on it easily. i didnt want to adjust it because i didnt want to pay another $7 for that crappy plastic clip!
